Legendeath Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Or are the GH3 and GTA forums just gone all of a sudden? Quote
Aero Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 they where dead, GH3 is out, and its still dead, as such it was decded that they get merged with general gaming. Quote
Nemo Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 wtf happened to dons thread about some asshole who was fired for being an asshole? Quote
jitz Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 This is a fair call, the GH forum while a worthwhile experiment proved to be...unpopular due to the board's majority of members havving a shit taste in games like SmackDown vs Raw 08. I laugh when I see people online playing it, Heart Breaker was the most recent offender, that's when he's taking breaks from that other lacklustre game - Halo 3. The GTA forum was just never going to work. Quote
Fozy Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Espcially a year in advance, lol. Halo 3 ain't lackluster, better than most shooters I've played recently. Quote
jitz Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 We must be talking about Halo 3's online merits because you certainly can't defend the shitness of the single player campaign. So... Team Fortress 2 shits all over it. Like takes a huge stinking crap, that possibly is digested Halo 3, and piles it on top of Halo 3. Plus you get 4 other top notch shooters (Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Ep 1 and 2, and puzzle first persona game Portal), ALL for SAME price. 5 superior FPS in one fucking box. You don't have to look very hard. Plus while I've only had about 30 minutes on COD4 (god bless her, I'll get back to her when I have time), the single player campaign was clearly superior than Halo 3's. I heard it's online is pretty damn good too. Halo 2 was a good game, I won't deny that. Halo 3 is simply a game everyone can not play and live their lives happily ever after, it's not "must play" at all. I played online a bit and had Americans talking shit non stop in my ears, it wasn't enjoyable. Sometimes on the rare occasion when I killed them, they even had excuses for why I was able to cheat a kill. Halo 3 is a wanker magnet. And a lacklustre game on top of that. Hence life certainly and very easily goes on without it. Quote
samountain Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Oh man, Chris is so opinionated. I like it. I wish I could write that much about something. Hell, even a paragraph would be nice. Good work Chris. Will read your ramblings again! Quote
Fozy Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 How can you posibbly say Halo 2 is better than Halo 3? That's stupid. Halo 2 was the game full of moron little americans, not 3. I've hardly got any of them killing my ear. The gameplay is also tweaked a little, but that little does a lot, and I enjoy it quite a bit. Campaign is pretty good, especially when there's 4 of you. I've only played it on Legendary, so it was good and challenging, which is what I like. Run and gunning ain't my style. The orange box is good, yet, I can't get myself to play it. I like half-life 2 and all, but it feels to meh right now. Maybe when I have ran out of games, then I'll get right into it. Portal was fun, but way too short and too easy. Can't wait for extra content etc. Team Fortress 2 is also pretty good, but to me, it isn't as enjoyable as Halo 3 or Call of Duty 2/4. The CoD4 campaign is awesome, extremely challenging, and brilliant online. It feels like call of duty 2, only better. Which can only mean it's the best fps i've played this year. By far. Quote
Joe =/ Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 The orange box might be 5 games in one box, but they aren't anything special. Portal was good, but suprisingly short. The half life games are OK, but not worth shouting about. Team fortress 2 better than halo 3 ? What the fuck ... that's crazy, TF2 is 'fun' - but not exactly a great load of fun, it doesn't exactly require much skill, die - run back to the same spot holding down the trigger with a flamethrower or huge machine gun. It gets boring - fast. unpopular due to the board's majority of members havving a shit taste in games like SmackDown vs Raw 08. I don't know if you noticed, but you're on SMACKTALKS, you know, the forum that focuses on wrestling games ? It's no suprise most people here enjoy the smackdown series. The game is a big let down as far as 24/7 mode etc, but focusing just on playing online with a friend or two, that's when it's a great game. Quote
Chillalex Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 http://uk.ign64.ign.com/objects/000/000425.html exact same engine as Halo. Soon as I played the first Halo, I was like "shit, this is turok, only a little more boring." Turok 2 owns Halo all over, the whole series. What the fuck is up with the pacing in Halo games as well? Its wave wave wave HUGE FUCKING SILENCE wave FUCKING SILENCE. Weapons are shit as well. Yeah, the graphics in 2 and 3 are decent (lets not include the fact that you see low poly for a second when the screen changes and whilst shaders are loaded in halo 2. gj) but thats it. As for art design, theres far better games out there (Unreal tournament, I'm looking at you) and art design is about the only thing left in Halo. Anyone who likes the games story just got sucked in to rudimentary devices utilising object emphasis, like fucking star wars and star trek. Shit games. Quote
Aero Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 ramble ramble rant rant... fps... ramble, graphics. rant rant rant opinion... ramble rant rantamble sheep. ..er.. yeah, i;m not a bif FPS fan. really just sounds like you guys all have your favorites... deal with it :S Quote
Chillalex Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 oh no, its not opinions, its fact fucker plays like a 97 game and at the least Halo 1&2 are obviously technically flawed and the level design fails you can enjoy it but its wrong Quote
jitz Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 People get upset when they realise that they've paid for marketing and a brand name, which Halo has unfortunately become (what with Halo wars and that toss bag Peter Jackson wanting to make a penny off the name). A single player campaign has to have at the very minimum a cohesive plot, to give rhyme and reason to your actions in game. Halo 3 doesn't have this. As Iain said, he played 4 player, NOT a single player campaign. 4 mates running around a level pretending their a special black ops team hunting down fucking bad ass space pirates, doesn't so much need a cohesive plot, it just needs a few geeks in their yelling "I'VE GOT YOUR BACK MAN!". Halo 2 managed to combine a decent single player campaign, with an online experience that was good because it was popular. So once again it's comes down to the online multiplayer, and as Iain said, they've only tweaked it (unless you're playing forge). The game is the exact same. The problem is the game, it's just not especially any good. It's a stock standard shooter that's possible on the PS1. I don't think it offers any more gameplay than Alien Trilogy did. Hell Halo, even copied Alien Trilogy's repeating levels at the end of the game simply because they ran out of time. The multiplayer is only good because it's popular, exactly like Halo 2. It's the game everyone is / was playing (a lot have jumped to other games after realising the THQ'ness of recycling the same game twice over), so you have the most opponents, and you have the most friends to co op with. Just because people play the game doesn't make it good, it's just made it an experience, which is a credit to everyone for making such an average game into something seen otherwise. So no, I dont care how much they've tweaked the height of Master Chief's ridiculously high and floaty jump, it's still a just not a very good game. It's also doesn't look pretty, it runs at such a low resolution, that playing it on a decent LCD screen is like looking at a glorified PS2 game. Not a smooth edge in sight. Quote
Fozy Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 To be fair, you know i hated halo, you must think to yourself, why is he defending it now? The game isn't superb, but it still plays great and i really enjoy playing it. You're trying to say games have to be high-end super games to make it a great game, why is that? If that was the case, games like GRAW and Rainbow Six Vegas should be top 5 games, how realistic it all is etc. Sadly, it's not the case, I think they're shit. Halo 3 tweaks on what could've made Halo 1 and 2 great games. I played the campaign myself, but play with other people to help them out, I don't get why you picked on te aspect it has co-op... Seriously? My favourite part about online gaming is the fact I can play co-op games, which is why the game I'm looking forward to most is Army of Two. So what if Halo doesn't have groundbreaking things like realistic fucking everything and pin-point accuracy and what not, it's very balanced and I like it. When I first saw screenshots of halo, I wasn't really blown away, I expected a shitload more in the graphics aspect, and I still wasn't when I played my first game. Then it dawned on me. The game is actually very pretty. The game looks great even everything up close looks great. Playing a game, then going back to watch it in theater, zooming into everything and still having it look great is more than most other games can say. Low resolution? I run it on 1280x1024. I've seen others run it in 1080i/p, how is that low resolution? Quote
Chillalex Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Army of Two sucks too bro its low res, 720 i think and its blown up to look higher. Its a fact, but hi resolutions dont bother me none, im still reppin gamecube so what if halo doesnt have groundbreaking things? Thats the point. It doesnt, and yet is heralded as the best fucking game series ever. Its totally over rated. The fact I think it sucks adds to that, Im willing to go so far as to say it doesnt suck completely but its blown out of proportion. When I first played it I expected alot more, and rightfully so, given all the hype and reviews. Quote
Fozy Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Oh, so now your changing it. I shouldn't like a game because it should be better than that it was? Quote
