I Am Legend.

Has anyone herd good or bad about this movie yet? It looks promising and Will Smith is good in the sci-fi kind of movies. The commercials have caught my attention, but then I read a tiny interview in a magazine that said two-thirds of the movie is pretty much just him on screen with a dog... and that just sounds riveting.

Will smith is the best man..This movie sounds good all i know about it is that hes last on the earth but i m 100% sure theres more to it

I am Legend is a book. It was the basis for the classic Charlton Heston film "The Omega Man" which Rob Zombie wrote a song about. There was also a comic book graphic novel adaptation for it. The comic book I read involved everyone in the world turning into semi-coherent zombie-vampire-type creatures which gathered every night at the house of the last man on earth attempting to get him, while Neville tried to survive and come up with a scientific answer as to why everybody became that way. The movie had everyone becoming mentally and physically sick and joining some sort of anti-technology cult, so who knows what they're going to do with this movie. It should be extremely suspenseful.

The Director Francis Lawrence directed Constantine with Keanu Reeves and a bunch of music videos. If he doesn't have a good idea how to build up a movie properly, he could really fuck up the film. I pray he doesn't.

Constantine was a piece of shit.

I'm glad at least one other person is aware of this film's vampire novel origin.

My parents used to punish me by giving me papercuts with the edges of the pages in that book, as well as many others.

I liked Constantine for the story and subject matter. The movie should have been done better. And that was an easy movie to direct.

Which is why it worries me. He'll probably try to build the film up so it seems to have an M Night Shyamalamadingdong-type twist at the end, which will only piss people off for the first hour and a half.

Hellblazer is so awesome that Keanu motherfucking Reeves acting as him was always an insult. Constantine was based on Sting for fuck's sake. He's supposed to be a Liverpuddlian in London not a LA-er in LA or wherever the fuck it was int he film. It was in America so it was already fucked up from the get-go.

Why is it that every Alan Moore graphic novel gets shat on for cinema. There is a reason why Moore never gets involved with films of his work. Apparently he doesn't own a TV so it doesn't bother him.

But I digest...

I Am Legend could be good. But I don't have high hopes.

my bro threw me a top quality screener of the movie, after seeing a few adverts, i just assumed he'd be driving around alot and time wasting, but to be honest, the story is in constant development throughout the film, i enjoyed it, was a good way to end boxing day.

Great movie. One of my favourites.

Is it constantly Will Smith that acts or are there other ppl involved to?

I know that he's a major part of the movie but I was wondering.

i honestly think the movie ending is better than the books ending, dont think the books' ending would have worked as well in the movie

<scans for spoilers> yeah

There's other actors in the movie obviously. Haven't you seen the preivews where they show his family and such before the whoel incident?

www.quicksilverscreen.com

the screener that aero speaks of is constantly being uploaded for streaming purposes to that site, once streamed the file can be saved via right click and burned to disk using other software.

definitely worth a watch

Woah this is one of the movies where its better than the book? im watching.

that screener is sweet, i DL'd it the other day. im sure the film company love a copy of that cablibre leaking to the internet pirates :lol

eww this movie was okay not great. I read the basic book story on wikipedia and it actually sounds better (though how they get to the end point, and how he discovers he's a legend, is a bit jumpy). This movie actually started off pretty well but man it went to horse dick.

Fans of the book must be annoyed though. This didn't follow the storyline at all. Will Smith is a pretty good actor though.

i still think that the books ending would have been a bit wank in the film, or added more length to it, which wouldnt have been a good thing.

I really liked the movie, but then again 28 Days Later is pretty much my favourite zombie movie and they've just ripped it off entirely.

I thought that although it clocks in at just under 2 hours, it could have done with more Will Smith and dog exploration. It's really evident on a second viewing that the movie would have benefitted from a bit more padding, a bit more build up. Take the time to really explore how on edge Will's character really is, and how dependent he is on the dog for his own sanity. I've no doubt a fair bit of it lays on the cutting room floor, so here's to a Director's Cut.

Yeah i was thinking the same -I'd have liked more exploration of the city with just will, just think it would have been nice. A few more reps of his am freq broadcast would have been good

Good film, shame about the scare tactics though. They were always the cheapest type - the only one that wasnt was pretty much silent hill (the first time he found that hive, and they were all in a circle jerk.) THAT, to me, was much worse than the jump techniques.

And, was there just one zombie who had a major beef with will smiths rap career, or wot? I couldnt tell if they all looked the same or if it was the same guy - we could have done with more exposure to them and their faces to show us he was the same. Again, its likely he was the same dude, but theres still a chance he wasnt thanks to our ignorance of what they look like.

And way to rip gears of war off with the UV car. (Even though thats probably been ripped by gears.)

Yes there is a main zombie, he's the one that first exposes himself to sunlight when Will nabbed the female - thus the beef began.

was 28 days later based on a book?

if not, how can i am legend be ripping it of?

anyways, even if it did rip off 28 days, it was good enough for it not to matter. i'm all for ripoffs that are good.

The empty city...the fast moving rabid zombies....the lonely man....there's more, but they're spoilers.

We've already established that I Am Legend doesn't follow the book at all, it's only the basic premise taken from the book. How the movie is shot, the scare tactics, the music - it's 28 Days Later all over again.

Which is a good thing, I never said it was bad thing. If you're making a zombie movie, 28 Days Later is your modern day benchmark, along with the Dawn of the Dead remake but that's a completely different type of zombie movie. I was simply pointing out that everyone should have already seen this movie before, but with a British cast. 28 Days Later is still a better movie too.
