jitz Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Ok call me an idiot, but in previous years there's been an option to change whether it's automatic, or manually controlled (far better). This option seems to be MIA this year, it's all automatic and the game does a shit house job of focusing in on the closest guy. Is there something I'm missing? Last year the Back button changed the focus but this year it's stamina recovery (apparently, but standing still seems to do as good a job). It's screwing me over in four ways, where I can't press the advantage on another wrestler. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 It's really sad to see THQ take this out. There's no excuse at all for this... AT ALL. The target system is essential in fatal four ways, as well as tag team matches. To see this out of the game, especially in online matches is a damn shame... Quote
jitz Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Every year they seem to take one step forward in one area of the game, but two steps back in another. I've done some research in game, the Back button simply brings up the damage graphic, standing still recovers as much stamina as holding the Back button. So why not get rid of one taunt because having four when now they're only useful to Showman superstar types is pointless, and use that for either bringing up the damage graphic, or for changing the focus. It's just frustrating when the controls stated in the manual are completely pointless, only touching on the most basic of controls. So stuff that has been in it from the first SmackDown game that now has gone missing, you assume that it's simply not in the manual. I tried combinations of buttons and directions for fifteen minutes trying to change the focus. A lot of it just seems half baked this year, more so than past years. Why put in a conchairto that's performed with an opponent laying on his stomach, when you can't flip your opponent on the ground? This year you can't duck behind your opponent in a grapple, or pick up from ground and stand behind, making finishers from behind extremely difficult to pull off. Where as two years ago, top rope finishers were impossible to pull off, now they're extremely easy. They just shuffle around the problems, never actually making a game that plays like you want it to. takersfan Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 They took out.. stored finishers sleeper system double ko before match mini games limited moves to people Took out:bar brawl, special ref Kanes atire And they have a weird season mode its ok but weird Quote
jitz Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 I actually like the new finisher system, I just wish the momentum bar filled slower. It's incredibly easy for high flyers to build theirs up because high flying moves gain heaps of monementum. A couple of rope flips or dives and you have a full meter. I understand it's to put cruiserweights on a level playing field with the stronger guys, as that's a focus of this year, but now it's swung too far. High flyers can kick everyone's arse too easily. Aero Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 lower the momentum speed bar otion in... well, options? might make a bit of difference Quote
jitz Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Aero, there's three settings - Normal, Fast, and Fastest. It's on normal, it's damn fast. On Fastest, one punch must fill the gauge. Why they don't include a Slow, and Slower, I dont know. In fact by not changing the current options to Slow, Normal, and Fast, they are admitting that it never fills slowly. Quote
Big Bizang Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I am a retard and thus can't work out how to drag downed opponents ont he PS2 version. This is made all the more annoying by the fact the CPU does it all the time. They may as well be looking at the screen and mouthing 'fuck you' when they do it. Also how easy is Legend difficulty this year? Last year it had be headbutting the TV, this year challenges are over in minutes on the first attempt. Quote
Aero Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 i actually find normal level of difficulty harder than legend, they just reverse EVERYTHING. Quote
bigpoppn Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 That's no more fun now is it?I normally play on Easy, bcause otherwise they reverse everything I do and that's no fun.Is it possible to reset the Reversal rate like last year?? Quote
gambit Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 changing opponents is select, at least its been working for me and to drag an opponent is r3, works everytime i have the ps2 version Quote
Aero Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 on the 360 the "back" button is used to breathe, it no longer changes opponents Quote
bigpoppn Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 To breathe?Oh, your stamina.I usually turn stamina off in matches, it just annoys the hell out of me.And if you scale the Reversal rate back when it's on Legend, does it affect my HOF attempts? Quote
jitz Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 No it doesn't affect HOF attempts. on the 360 the "back" button is used to breathe, it no longer changes opponents But it doesn't! You get the EXACT same effect from simply standing still and not pressing anything - they will regain as much stamina. The Back button simply brings up the person graphic that displays damaged areas. The Back button has nothing to do with regaining stamina. EDIT - Infact having a look at other boards the common theme seems to be confusion with the control system, and hot spots. It all can be blamed on the extremely shit manual that comes with the game that explains nothing. Maybe THQ will stop reshuffling the controls every year, trying to confuse people into thinking it's a new game. Quote
takersfan Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 U have to run towards the person and run attack them i guess Quote
bigpoppn Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 It just sucks.I've faced the same problem in a handicap match VS the COM.It was so stupid...When I tried to attack the one with a steel chair, I ended up hitting nothing/noone. Quote
Doz1986 Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 It is difficult especially in a handicap match its annoying Quote

All you've got to do is press & hold the Right Analog button in. It took me a while to figure that one out too. Quote

LMFAO @ THAT xD He has proclaimed his retardness xD Anywhoo, I am also a retard and cannot figure out how to pull weapons out from under the ring. Then, the Sandman goes and pulls a barbed wire sticky thing out of the ring, subliminally tells me to go fuck myself and smacks me with it. Luckily I was Mark Henry so I simpled crushed him with one asscheek. Instant win. Quote
bigpoppn Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 You just go stand where the weapons are, and press X (PS2) Simple as that. Quote
I'll Make You Famous Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I have 360 version and my neighbor has PS2 version, you can't switch aim on either. Thats just fucking retarded. Quote
