Slim Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Has this shit actually been "proven"? I'm not talking about theories and gut feelings and such worthless shit, I'm talking about actual scientific PROOF. Ok so the earth is getting hotter. Ok so we're driving a lot of cars and pumping a lot of CO2 these days. But just because two things are happening at the same time doesn't prove one is causing the other. People are using a lot more cell phones these days. We're drinking a lot more hot coffee. How do we know that cell phones or coffee isn't creating global warming? Quote
Aero Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 its obvious- driving cars ------------- X Price to "rent" dons mum for the night = 17. cost of butter 17 is the universal number for global warming, in the event that the price of butter moves out of alignment with driving cars or dons mum, we will no longer have any global warming problems. Slim Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 The video proves that the earth is warming. But how do you prove that humans are the cause? What about the first iceage, what made the all that ice melt back then? Was it the cavemen when they discovered fire? Quote
tokidoim Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 The earth heats up and cools down in cycles. It's not weird that it's happening, but I think it's reasonable that the amount of pollution in the air makes it take longer for heat to dissipate into the atmosphere. Theoretically it could have a global impact over time, but I have to believe that it's a more localized issue in places where the air is thick with contaminants. There's a pretty good sized boundary between the majority of polar ice caps and any civilized areas. The possibility that the world will be covered in water because of melting is kind of wacky at this point. Our great great great great grandkids might be fucked, though. nosig Quote
Spectre Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 A Meteor Hit The Earth Back in the day, did bad stuff, Killed dinosaurs and the Debris and ash and stuff from the meteor and resulting volcanoes erupting blocked out the sun causing an Ice Age, over Time the Ice retreated and thats how it all went down, BTW The retreating Ice Actually Created Long Island cool fact. jitz Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 This topic is stupid, why must people be so naive? It's be proven there's a shitload more carbon floating around in our atmospere than there was 50 years ago, like fucking heaps more. Carbon slows down the dissipation of heat, which has been proven on the ground, so holds true thousands of kilometres up. It's been proven the average temperature's world wide have increased. The earth is warming up on a global scale due to man's huge output of carbon in the air - global warming has been proven. We managed to put a huge hole in the ozone layer over about 30 years, what makes you think we can't warm up the earth aswell? Wait, now you'll make a topic questioning ozone depletion. Or maybe go the complete naive route and ask "What's an ozone?" Just because the giant hole in it doesn't sit directly above your own country, so you don't care at all. Quote
