The Don Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 So you're saying that Mike Shinodis grew up in the "hip-hop struggle"? Just because Common, Jay-Z and Styles of Beyond were on the CD dosen't make him "real." You're new here so I'll fill you in on a secret. Mention hip-hop in a way I don't agree with, 90% of the time I'll go on the defensive. Quote
essjayisback Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 im not new, i was here before, but lost my password n dont use my old email any more. im not saying shinoda grew up in the struggle, i like his style and he keeps the subject matter real. i dont care who is on the cd with him, i just think he is very good at what he does Quote
The Don Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 im not new, i was here before, but lost my password n dont use my old email any more. Then you should know that I'm SmackTalks' resident nigger. :don Quote
essjayisback Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 LOL, yeah i do know that man. seems like we have different tastes in hip hop, never mind, its still great music agreed? Quote
The Don Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I never disagreed with what you were saying, the point is that you lumped together 99% of hip-hop by saying it talks about bullshit. A prime example of what people consider "bullshit" would be Juelz Santana, but if people would look past The Whistle Song and actually listen to his CDs they'd hear songs like My Problem, Whatever You Wanna Call It, Good Times, Raindrops and Daddy. Quote
essjayisback Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 i dont really have an issue with juelz, but yeah the whislte song is very commercial. dude can make some deep songs. its the commercialised fake gun talk that i dont like, if they have grown up with that shit then fair enough. Quote
The Don Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 But how do you know who did and didn't grow up around all of that? 2Pac and Jay-Z wern't out shooting people and selling drugs but no one calls them fake. Just because they didn't do it dosen't mean they can't talk about it. Rap is mostly fictional. it's escapism plain and simple. Just do me a favor, from now on be more specific and say "Bullshit like snap music" or something, this whole issue could have been avoid. kthxbi. Quote
essjayisback Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Very well said my freind. i have nothing further to add to that. im gonna add you on xbox live if you dont mind. Quote
Merks Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Ya man, da Don loves all that rhyming bout dem bitchez and hoes. Quote
Thom Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 If you wanna listen to hip hop which doesn't cover stereotypical subject matter, listen to Abdominal, MC Paul Barman and Example. Quote

Nemo Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 ... 2Pac and Jay-Z wern't out shooting people and selling drugs but no one calls them fake. Just because they didn't do it dosen't mean they can't talk about it ... pac got shot for being such a fucking poser. it's only a matter of time before they get jay-z. Quote
CS Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 lmao. If you guys are looking for good rap I've heard good things about Soulja Boy. Quote

The Don Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 ... 2Pac and Jay-Z wern't out shooting people and selling drugs but no one calls them fake. Just because they didn't do it dosen't mean they can't talk about it ... pac got shot for being such a fucking poser. it's only a matter of time before they get jay-z. You thinking what I'm thinking nigga? Quote
