American Gangster

[The Don]

I downloaded a screener of American Gangster the other day and finally got around to watching it just now. I'm puttin it up there with Lord of War, that's the highest compliment I can pay a movie. Denzel Washington dosen't really trip my trigger and I'm not exactly a fan of Russell Crowe but they both do an amazing job in their roles, Denzel more than Russell in my opinion. If somehow you've missed all the commericals here is a quick plot outline

In 1970s America, a detective works to bring down the drug empire of Frank Lucas, a heroin kingpin from Manhattan, who is smuggling the drug into the country in the coffins of soldiers returning from the Vietnam War.

I really can't say anything bad about the movie, like I said before both Denzel and Russell knock it out of the park and the supporting cast is just as good, even better in a few scenes. This is perhaps the best movie of 2007 and I plan on going to see it in theaters hopefully in a week or two.
