tokidoim Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 My personal belief is that: A: You must be a fucked up individual to randomly attack people, regardless of what your weapon of choice. B: Fucked up people, regardless of what makes them fucked up, are the only ones fully responsible for their actions. C: When fucked up people go off, they make the news. D: Fucked up people will always comprise a certain percentage of the population . E: As the population grows, the number of fucked up individuals will grow proportionately. So, yeah. At least they're blowing up and killing themselves in school while they're young, before they have years to work on their aim and kill effectively. The world has always had fucked up people. If ony one in a million has the capacity to do this sort of shit, then there's 6,000 potential assholes in the world. And there's more bo4n every day. nosig Quote
CanaMatt Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Change the constitution, you don't have right to bear arms, no civilised country does. Yeah, but if that happens let me tell you, they will miss wearing t shirts in the summer. Anyway, my real opinion on all this is that really there is no solution for violence. There will always be people who don't fit into society. And in alot of ways I don't necessarily believe it to be their fault. I find shootings like this a complete tragedy. I feel bad for the innocent victims most of all, but I also feel bad for the person doing the shooting. I wonder how fucked up they must feel in their head to actually rationalize what they are doing as their best interest. And of course the parents can't be blamed, and neither can anything individually, but really, people are a product of their environment. I can very safely say that my own personal morals were not something I chose, but something that I learned over time, and really I don't think I have much control over that. I have no problem stomping on ants, and its not like I could suddenly decide i wanted to care... just like somebody who can't stand people stomping on ants could suddenly start liking it. There will always be people who either through their upbringing, their environment, chemical imbalances in their head, or just plain stupidity will deviate from the norm of society, we will never, ever stop it completely unless we suddenly decide on nazism or some shit. This probably doesn't make sense, I've just finished my fourth after work beer, but I think it seems clear enough to me in my mind. Good night. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 There's just one problem with your 2nd amendment arguement. It's on the Bill of Rights, and in the US the Bill of Rights is not allowed to be changed in any way, shape or form. That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard, and goes to show Americans do not even know there own system. The Bill of Rights can be changed with the support of 2 of either the Senate, Supreme Court or House of Representatives. Once 2 of them agree, the Bill of Rights can be changed. And it has been changed before, that is why they are called AMENDMENTS. Get it? How do you think Prohibition happened and then was repealed? And second of all. Who gives a shit about your constitution. It is a piece of Paper, written 231 years ago, by men who wore wigs and florally cuffs. Why should the will of people who are dead stand in the way of what people today want/need? It is ridiculous. All countries have a constitution, but an entrenched constitution is unique to you, and ridiculous to all. Quote
bigpoppn Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Things like this almost never happen here... About two years ago this guy, who was a nearly-suspended college student, bought a gun and shot 4 ppl with it, causing 3 of them to die.The student just bought a gun and walked out with it and shot down those ppl. Now, our governement saw how serious it was, and they changed the law on weapons. Now only members of a hunting club and ppl with a firearm license can buy guns. HOW 'BOUT THAT, CRAZY AMERICANS!!! RingMaster2001 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Thank god noone in gun clubs or with a license are mad. How's Charlton Heston's Alzheimers? Quote
bigpoppn Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I agree, it doesn't take away these sort of things, but it happens less. Earlier, ppl could walk in a store, buy a machine gun and just walk out with it. This shit can't happen now. If I'd compare before and after, the results would be stunning. *Insert Stone Cold joke here* Quote
