TheHitmanPK Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 yeah just picked this up today. Plays good. The fighting styles are hard to adjust as well as the once again tweaked controls. Like Y being finisher and B being irish whip feels weird. I'm still not sure how the fighting style moves work. Its like the same as saving a finisher I think. And anyone wondering the retail demo is only for the 360 version. Quote
The Don Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Looks like I'm callin EB and seeing if they have the demo. Quote
crunk Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Sweet.. any more things you you like/dislike when you played it? Quote
TheHitmanPK Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 well I do certainly like the new RKO, but so far my only complaint is just adjusting to the fighting styles. The way you do the special moves differ from each style. Like the Dirty guy fucking with the ref you just go to him and press A. To do a dirty finisher now you must store your fighting style (not finisher) and push RB + Y. I'm pretty sure you can't store finishers anymore. You can only do them when your momentum is up. But back to fighting styles. When I used Rey on the demo he was High-flyer of course. This fight style seems to only have a special springboard attack (in addition to the older) Like you simply lean into ropes with the Left thumbstick and press A then Rey does a Phoenix Splash. Tried to do a move there with Orton and nothing happens. I just haven't played it enough, but it shouldn't take too long to get used to. And another thing I noticed is the regular strong grapples have changed. You can still do RB + RS UP then do four moves from there and RB + RS Down and four moves from there, but RB + Left/Right go straight to an Interactive move (Chokeslam, suplex, etc.) Not sure if that grapple explanation made sense or not, but I still need to play it some more. Sunny Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Sweet, found some new information for PS3 owners. THQ has dropped word that wrestling fans eager to get going on the ring early can now get their hands on a playable demo for the upcoming WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 by preordering the game at select retailers throughout North America. For those still undecided on whether or not to plunk down 60 bucks on the latest iteration, the said demo will also be released on the Playstation Network on October 15th. Whichever way you choose to get it, the demo is said to feature an exhibition mode and a two-player competitive mode, with the Raw, SmackDown, and ECW arenas available to wrestle in. Playing as Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashey, Undertaker, or Randy Orton, fans will also get the chance to sample some of the new features, such as Superstar Fighting Styles and the Struggle Submission System.
