9/11

We aren't going to do this every year, no way. No more 9/11 topics, ever. There's been thousands of tragedies around the world and they're forgotten about in a year. The world didn't end, yes people died and they have been remembered by all those who actually knew them, that's all that matters. Americans on the board please take note, please try to seperate yourself from every other American in the entire world and try not to be so damned self absorbed. There surprisingly are other countries outside of your own.

*sigh* i was just going to address that paragraph of sadness as a whole, but i got some time, so here we go, piece by piece:

"there's been thousands of tragedies around the world..."

yeah, so? if someone in my family gets stabbed to death, should they not have a proper funeral because thousands of others have been stabbed to death? should you not have a birthday party because billions of others have turned that same age already?

"the world didnt end..."

no shit. it was an american incident, which is why americans are the only ones doing all the remembering.

"...they have been remembered by all those who actually knew them..."

who do you think goes to these memorials? it's the friends and families of those who died. everyone else goes to school or work.

"try to do whatever and not to be so damned self absorbed..."

honoring the lives of others is self-absorbed? how is that even possible?

"there surprisingly are other countries outside of your own"

that has what to do with 9/11? i'll humor you and say it is self-absorbed that we only honor our own tragedies, but what other countries are honoring 9/11? judging by the attitudes of you and ming, id say none. so its conceited that we dont remember other tragedies, but it isnt when you guys disregard 9/11? hypocrites.

you're right about people having to forget about 9/11, jitz, but for the wrong reasons. its not about being self-absorbed or acting like theres no other countries outside the us. we need to forget about 9/11 because people have to stop living in the past and get on with their lives.

in short, fuck you.

Well said, Sally.

@Aero, the joke wasn't that bad, but you've gotta admit : my spamming has lowered.(I won't say a lot)

sal, its not that we don't think you should remember it, pay tribute etc, but most ppl on here arn't american and never the less, on tv etc it still gets crammed down our throats, it needs toned down greatly.

Sal, a lot of your arguements agreed with me in that there shouldn't be any more topics on the subject on Smacktalks. I can tell you're clutching for an arguement here, you're becoming sloppy in trying to force it.

I'm not having a shot at America, I'm going there next year to check the country out for myself, I can talk shit about it after that. The thing that pisses most people off about Americans is something you guys can't even see, you don't notice it. It's this sickening blend of naiveness, patriotism, arrogance, with a lot of bad education thrown in for good measure.

9/11 was six years ago, it bred two wars that have killed far more people than the attacks on the buildings themselves. America got their vengeance, you took the lives you wanted as pay back. It's done. From now on, 9/11 is just another date on the calendar every year.

it's hard to argue for something thats right, though you dont believe it :\

the fact that this is general chat allows people to make threads about 9/11. even if it didnt, theres nothing arrogant or self-absorbed, or wrong about making 9/11 threads. sure, not everyone here is american, but thats no reason why threads cant be made about american issues. if you're not interested in american threads, dont read them, plain and simple.

i found it pretty easy to forget 9/11, but its not for others. as far as this shit goes, we ought to just mind our own business and let people do as they choose.

Sal, your argument about people being stabbed shouldn't have funerals notion is ridiculous. Yes they should have a funeral, of course they should, as should everyone who dies. BUT the people who died in 9/11 had their funeral 6 years ago.

I remember posting updates on SD2H when it happened. Those were the days.
