The Don Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 NoDQ.com > UFC > Major news from UFC 75 conference call Posted by Bobby Spade on 08/30/2007 at 03:02 PM Credit: MMANews.com Dana White has confirmed some noteworthy items in the beginning of today's UFC 75 media conference call: -Renato "Babalu" Sobral was released from his contract due to the incidents that happened during his UFC 74 bout against David Heath. Dana White again talked about how it would of been worse had Babalu had an arm, leg or ankle. Still, Dana feels the fans turned on him and said he is out of his contract and out of the company due to his actions. What did I miss? It's a damn shame because Babalu (from what I've seen) has always gotten knocked out in spectacular fashion. Quote
Nemo Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 he had a choke on heath and refused to let go after he tapped. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Don't you mean Bobaloo? Either way, his fight with David Heath was very personal. Both fighters did not like each other at all. Just watch their pre-fight weigh in. These guys definitely wanted to go at it. During the fight, Babalu sunk in a choke. David Heath eventually tapped. Babalu wouldn't let go. The ref tried to pull Babalu off of David Heath. He still wouldn't let go. Finally the ref forced him to let go, after about 5-7 seconds after David tapped. Once he let go, David was unconscious. Yeah. It was pretty scary. Babalu has stated in interviews that he isn't sorry for what he did. Needless to say, after Babalu finally let go of the choke, the crowd was very VERY angry. They booed him quite a bit for his actions. It's really a shame too. Babalu is very talented, but he's let himself slip away his past few fights. He loses by KO in two out of his last three fights. Then, he comes back and acts like an asshole when he wins. Edit. Damn it Sal. Why'd you have to simplify that shit? Quote
