The Don Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Report: Garnett Traded To Boston Image Mike Max Reporting (WCCO) The Associated Press is reporting that Kevin Garnett is leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves in a multiplayer trade to the Boston Celtics. The reported deal would bring Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, and Sebastian Telfair to Minnesota. The Timberwolves will also get at least one draft pick. The teams still had some things to clarify with the players' contracts, but a Celtics official said that would not keep the Celtics from acquiring Garnett, although there could be a change in the players ticketed for the Timberwolves. However, Celtics executive Danny Ainge refuted the report Monday afternoon that his team had reached an agreement in principal, saying no deal is in place. "They can speculate all they want," Ainge told the Pioneer Press. WCCO's Mike Max had learned the Timberwolves may have been holding out for a first-round draft pick to go along with the four players. The Timberwolves held an ownership meeting on July 24, sources told WCCO-TV. Once of the concerns addressed in that meeting was revenue. The Timberwolves have been losing money in recent seasons. One Timberwolves insider, when asked why Garnett would accept a deal to go to Boston now when he previously said "no", said Boston's acquisition of All-Star Ray Allen of Seattle, plus the addition of Garnett would make the Celtics a team that could win the East. Garnett is due to earn $22 million next season and has the option of becoming a free agent once the season concludes. The Celtics would likely want Garnett to sign a contract extension. There are reports Garnett's camp is asking for a 5 year extension worth $125 million. When the Garnett trade talks began his team of choice to be moved to was the Phoenix Suns, but a trade was never pulled off due to complications with contracts and the fact that it most likely would have been a multi-player three team deal. There were also talks of Garnett heading to the L.A. Lakers to join Kobe Bryant. Garnett is currently the player who has spent the most consecutive seasons in the NBA with the same team, 12 with the Timberwolves. http://wcco.com/topstories/local_story_211155750.html R.I.P. The Don Posted August 1, 2007 Author Posted August 1, 2007 Poppn, it's basketball. Garnett is perhaps the best player currently in the NBA not to have won a championship. Quote
bigpoppn Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 I don't really follow basketball but thx anyway for telling what sport it's about. Quote

Heart Breaker Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I agree with Takersfan. This is the best thing for Kevin Garnett. Now he's with a great team with great back up such as Pierce and Ray Allen. I'll be surprised if the Boston Celtics do not make it to the Eastern Conference Finals this year. Needless to say, there is so many competitive teams on the East. Celtics, Pistons, Heat, Cavaliers, etc. This should be a great upcoming year in basketball. Quote
takersfan Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Did u guys notice the finals for alot of sports were crap like cleveland got swept and anahiem killed ottawa in nhl...unlike mavs vs heat that was intense upto game 7 i was screaming Quote
