Aero Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 yeah, so the contract on my w810i is up, i care not for the camera so im ignoring the k series... and also any phone that is not a sony ericsson. my work phone is the w850i and it fucking rocks, its just a bit too big, but it has free insurance so it is getting the new role as bar phone, i'e anytime im out drinking i'll use it, if it breaks or i drop kick it, i get a new phone for free. as such, i've stuck to the w series and gone for what i belive to be a sexy sexy phone - the sony ericsson w880i reasons - looks good very VERY thin i love sony ericssons great for music sony ericsson have MASTERED the art of stereo blueooth and i have excellent stereo bluetooth speakers. longest bettery life yet, and sony ericssons have the longest batteries out of any other phone in uk market. can auto update firmware or debrand it myself without voiding warranty. (ie if the software is shit, i can fix it) its a better looking version of my chubby w850i which has been my most favorite phone ever. downfalls- no radio... something i dont use on a phone still only 2 megapixel... i care not for the camera no autofocus... read above reason screen is slightly smaller than the w850i's w810i w850i w880i will give a more personalised review after i get it 2mw, see if there is any wee annoying things that it does. Aero Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 and is that a good thing or a bad thing in your opinion? it seems to be a very hit or miss phone, for example the buttons can put ppl off, but i have small girly hands so they suit me fine. Quote
scoot Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 itunes>winamp itunes=apple apple iphone=apple apple iphone>w800i Quote

Aero Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 could you atleast wait until the iphone comes out before you say it is better than anything? ppl did the same thing with the n95 and its shit, battery doesnt even last a day in 3g area, gps is pathetic on it and its glitchy as hell, dropping calls and rebooting very very frequently Quote
scoot Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 an ipod that can make calls and sms, and just about everything that a good quallity phone can do?, and look at apples track record for good hardware. i need not to wait till it comes out. if apple went into the video games market, i would pick a console up, simply because so far, apple stuff has been great.......like litterally Quote
Aero Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 from the 3 people i know who own an ipod 1. broke down beyond repair 2. constantly needs cleaned up / formated 3. only lets 2 tracks get transfered at a time it is also apples forst phone and due to its advanced features could suffer many problems, my main concern would be the battery. also, im assuming it uses a harddrive like the ipod? it is a fact that on average phones get more abuse (ie moved around etc) than mp3 players, the n91 had this problem (it was also a big ugly fucker which didnt help it) and there where nothing but problems with its harddrive i still think you should hold off on praising it until it comes out. i still feel it wont be overly reliable, i hate apple and have no need for a giant phone so no matter how good it is when it comes out i still don't want one. Nemo Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 @scoot good track record? are you fucking kidding me? not only was there a huge recall on their laptop batteries last year, but there was a huge battery recall for 3rd gen ipods as well. not to mention the fact that early gen ipods had a lifespan of maybe 3 years. other than that i mean what hardware do they actually produce? its not like their comps are running on apple cpus or graphics cards. judging by how immaculate you think apple is, you really dont know dick about comps. Aero Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 DOUBLE POST - tbh if/when i get a new PC it will be a mac if you get a new PC it will be a PC apple have clearly pointed out on many many occasions that a PC is NOT a MAC nor is a MAC a PC, apple try to go down the multimedia entertainment system line (not sure of the corrent term, dont care either) Quote

EDIT: if you get a new PC it will be a PC apple have clearly pointed out on many many occasions that a PC is NOT a MAC nor is a MAC a PC, apple try to go down the multimedia entertainment system line (not sure of the corrent term, dont care either) your right, i fucked up with terms. when i buy a new machine, it will be a mac. Aero Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 1. was 2 months out of warranty 2. agreed, is fucked up 3. personal taste i guess, i like media player, i find it the easiest to use can sync, create playlists, drag and drop files (inc album art) and doesnt need to convert all your music to aac, but then, to each their own. Quote
scoot Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 1. suspicious circumstances right there i say. 2. agreed very much so, again suspicious circumstances 3. it really is down to personal prefrence, the only thing windows media player does well for me now is streams my videos (mainly eipsodes of dirty sanchez) to my PS3. now if only the PS3 would support DIVX and XVID files, now that would be the day Quote
Aero Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 hmmm... that would be handy... but then i dont have a ps3 so i care not hahahaha. i can quite happily stream any type of video from my pc to the 360 so im happy enough, can also do the same to my wii with "orb" but its not as good. Quote
scoot Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 yea, im trying to get nero mediahome to transcode my shit to MPEG2 format to my PS3, ther are reports of it working fine, but its my belief that i will have to go through my router, rather than through ICS for that to work. and theres no chance of me running another cable upto the loft. and dont even get me started on that crap known as TVersity. Aero Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 quick phone review- things i dislike - phone isn't as loud as w850i, but then i rrely play music through speakers, usually headphones so thats fine, its still pretty loud. its a bit tinny sounding when volume is up full blast, but there is a way of fixing that by flashing it. oranges' own software, when the orange homescreen is selected slows the phone to death, but selecting the sony homescreen fixes this... i prefere the sony homescreen anyways no torch on it... meh plus sides - stereo bluetooth is the future phone is very sexy easier to text with than i thought has bluetooth remote control, as such i shall set the scene for you - kickass bluetooth speakers at one side of the room, pc at other me in the middle playing wii or something. i stream music via bluetooth to speakers from PC i dont like the song, think its too loud or what ever i change track with bluetooth remote on my phone i become even lazier, but its so so handy... and more comfortable most other features are same as w850 so i will ignore them 10/10 based on what i was expecting and how it met/failed/surpassed what i was looking for.
