The following is an excerpt from a Los Angeles Times article on the UFC 71 show, claiming NSAC figures for the fighter pay outs to the main event combatants:

Jackson earned $450,000 by winning, the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced. Liddell was paid $500,000, and would've gained another $500,000 had he won.

He would have gotten one million dollars for beating Rampage? No wonder he looked so demoralized in the post fight interview.

Yeah. It's about the money. Chuck's not bummed out about losing at all. He's just concerned about money. Right?

Get one thing straight, Chuck's happy that he's getting paid well, but it's never been about the money to Chuck. When he started in MMA, he wasn't getting huge paychecks. He just loved to fight. I promise you, even if UFC wasn't as main stream as it is today, Chuck would still be fighting for small amounts of money. Because that's the kind of guy Chuck is. The fight is the most important thing. Money is second.

But I'm happy Rampage won. I really am. He deserves this moment in the sun. He's been through so many ups and downs in his career and there's no doubt in my mind, that we saw the best Rampage this past Saturday. Can't wait to see his upcoming fight with Dan Henderson.
