Subrick Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 (edited) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d...knightjoker.jpg Does anyone really think that Heath Ledger will be any good as the Joker? I say this because first off, Ledger was one of the guys in Brokeback Mountain. Second, the only true Joker is Jack Nicholson. Third, It's gonna be damn hard for Ledger to fill the shoes of Nicholson. Finally, maybe they are making the Joker too disturbing in this movie. I mean, look at that Glasgow smile. Post your thoughts. Edited May 28, 2007 by Subrick Quote
Aero Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 have we not discussed this before? anyways, fuck off with that "one true joker" bullshit until you actually see heath attempt it, mayb he'll be better, it is possible... unlikely, but possible. he's a decent actor, he has the smile for it, it could work. as for the brokeback mountain bit, he's an actor, its a movie, big deal, since that movie a fe other actors have expressed their willingness to do gay scenes so it makes your point irrelevant. also, i like the idea of the joker being really dark Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 My only problem is that he is far too young to play the Joker. The Joker was an older villain by the time Batman took him on. But he was always suppose to be dark. Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I personally loved that picture when I first saw it despite being weary of the casting choice. Nolan/Bale have never let us down before. New bat costume will be sleeker and more aerodynamic apparently too and the Batmobile is going to get remodelled. Quote
scoot Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 looks decent, i personally am hoping for a joker to have a very creepy dark look to him. Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Yeah I didn't want to say anything but that was pretty stoopid man. Quote
jitz Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Everyone doubted Hugh Jackman as Wolverine too. Heath Ledger is a good actor that shys away from these mainstream roles, he's a good actor, check him out in the retelling of Australian bushranger Ned Kelly to see. Hell I remember watching him as a young kid on Ship to Shore. Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Ah Ship to Shore. We used to get that on a Sunday Morning, I still remember the theme tune. Jackman was good in the first film but just became a parody of Wolverine as the series went on. Just like Maguire, it's about time he bowed out. Quote
jitz Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Well he wont be doing that seems as Hugh's company is producing the spin off Wolverine movie. Oh and the Ship to Shore theme is the greatest theme ever. This also paves the way for Hermes Endakis quotes. Quote
The Don Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Heath Ledger is a good actor that shys away from these mainstream roles, he's a good actor, check him out in the retelling of Australian bushranger Ned Kelly to see. Hell I remember watching him as a young kid on Ship to Shore. He was also in 10 Things I Hate About You... Or has he gotten a pass on it? Anyways I think he'll do a good job as I can see him in the role. I'm glad they're making Joker darker, Batman has always had a (somewhat) darker edge to it. I really hope they go almost to the point where people think it's too dark... Quote
jitz Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Heath Ledger made 10 Things I Hate About You watchable. Man I dream of him singing to me one day. Quote
IamPayne Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) Jack did a good job as a more comical Joker. But the Joker is a little darker and more psychotic. I'm looking foward to seeing this movie just as much as I was the 1st one. This series is a saving grace to what had become of the Batman franchise with the last 2 movies. I did like how there was more storytelling of a realistic sense as to how Bruce aquired his gadgets and his fighting ability, and the fact that Batman had some emotion to him and not just act robot-like as did Clooney. And I even liked the Tumbler/Batmobile and think it should be similar in this movie. It looked like something that would be pieced together rather than a slick manufactured look as it had in the 1st 4 movies. Edited May 28, 2007 by IamPayne Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Batman Begins costume was bulky and designed for protection. Batmobile was bulky and designed for protection. Dark Knight costume will be more sleek and aerodynamic. Batmobile will be... Quote
jitz Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Fuck off, how does Hugh Jackman suck as Wolverine. You know apart from giving the entire trilogy a decent actor to pin the weight of the entire storyline on. Hugh faltered under lackluster scripts, the same way Tobey Maguire did; you can't turn shit into Shakespeare. Ignoring the atrocity that was X Men 3, Hugh carried X-Men 1 and 2 to huge critical and commercial success, even still he carried X Men 3 to huge commercial success. Nobody else in the movies stood out. Halle Berry? No. That guy that played Cyclops went on to a minor role in Superman over reprising his role in X Men 3, no doubt he looked at the X3 script and thought he wanted out, little did he know Singer wouldn't do much better with Superman Returns. The only other person to stand out was Ian McKellan as Magneto, in a role he was too old to play. Saying Hugh Jackman "sucks" as Wolverine is naive and absolutely groundless, without him you wouldn't have an X-Men trilogy of movies. There's a reason the guy went from obscurity to box office sensation after X-Men, and that's because he fucking owned the movie; and everyone including the director knew it, hence him once again being the focus of X-Men 2. Aero sucks as admin, now there's something nobody will deny. Quote
Aero Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 for me the likes of magneto made the movie if any, nobody really stood out. i didnt like hugh jackman at all, granted that was partly down to the scripting etc but he still gets partial blame to me, not sure who'd i've got to replace him tho. also, i cant stand tobey as spiderman, i still enjoyed the movies as im not that petty, but tobey annoys me immentsly sometimes... i think its partly down to his face tho. Nemo Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 there you go again with your xmen, jitz. thats all you ever fucking talk about. Quote
jitz Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I'd talk about the Resident Evil movies, but everyone agrees they suck. Quote
scoot Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I'd talk about the Resident Evil movies, but everyone agrees they suck. too true, they suck so god dam hard its untrue Quote
scoot Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 they are truly the kind of film that puts me to sleep in a cinema Quote
