Thom Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Seeing as everybody has such a boner for Spider-Man 3 at the moment, it got me thinking. I went to see it on Friday with a friend, and being the absolute fag that she is, I look over at her when Harry dies, and she's got tears streaming down her face. I don't know how it's possible to feel such emotion for somebody with as much character development as the little girl who loses her balloon in the second movie; it just really wasn't all that sad to me. Saying this, I by no means think that there is anything gay about crying during a movie, and I don't expect any of you to think that either, so the purpose of this topic is to post about times when a movie has made you fill up with tears. The one that comes into my head first is the speech in Coach Carter (Which I still rate as some of Samuel L Jackson's very finest work); "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerfull beyond measure; Its our light, not our darkness that frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world, there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people wont feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine as children do its not just in some of us its in everyone and as we let our own light shine we unconciousely give other people permission to do the same, as we are liberated from our presence it automatically liberates others! Sir i just want to say. Thank you, you saved my life" Quote
jitz Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I nearly cried during The Notebook, does that count? Also when Raphael lost his sai. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Surprisingly enough, the Butterfly Effect messes with me a little. It makes me think on how I would change things and how much mistakes I've made. I hate thinking like that. It always makes me sad. Quote
Thom Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 PSYCHE!! I was pulling your chain all along, man crying at movies is so GAY!!!! Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Let's all just ignore that last post. There are parts of Little Miss Sunshine that almost bring a tear to my eye. What about songs that fuck you up? The Streets - Dry Your Eyes and Never Went to Church give me that lump in my throat. Quote
Thom Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 I've never been dumped, so I don't get anything from Dry Your Eyes, I can't wait til I do though. Konstantine by Something Corporate is the only song I remember actually crying over any time recently. Not that recently though. Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I don't think you have to have been dumped to feel anything from that song. It's just like that. Quote
Nemo Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 million dollar baby. i avoid watching it due to the fact that i feel like shit every time i do. for what its worth, the jurassic bark, luck of the fryrish and time keeps on slippin eps of futurama are also pretty sad. especially the first. Quote
Aero Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 never cried watching movies, i only cry for the death of a loved one... when i was younger, i cried all the fucking time, then i wised up, MOVIES AINT NOT NO REAL! Quote
scoot Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) million dollar baby titanic my brother tom (the once aired 2001 TV film/drama not the 1989 craporama) cruel intentions the truman show the butterfly effect romeo and juliet the final episode of buffy upon first viewing (although it did suck, it did get me going) bambi so im not going to go on, but i think ive established that i cry at films way too easily Edited May 10, 2007 by scoot Quote
jitz Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Fag. for what its worth, the jurassic bark, luck of the fryrish and time keeps on slippin eps of futurama are also pretty sad. especially the first. Jurassic Bark is the greatest 30 minutes of TV available today. The other two trail closely behind. Quote
samountain Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Songs: What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole White Daisy Passing - Rocky Votolato Don't really make me cry but they get me the most emotional. I can't really think of any movies that have made me cry. I think the closest I got was during Dragonheart. I was pretty young then. Quote
Thom Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 I'm definitely with you on Jurassic Bark, I can confirm that myself and a 19 year old Male friend of mine have both shed a tear at that one. Futurama is the only cartoon which has ever evoked that sort of emotion from me, which is why I love it more than my own Mother. Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Luck of the Fryrish was sadder in my humble opinion. The music at the end worked so much better than it ever did on the sodding Breakfast Club. Quote
Thom Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 Jurassic Bark ended with mutual feelings of abandonment and loss of a best friend. Luck of the Fryish, while an emotional affair, wasn't really that upsetting imo cause it had closure at the end, with Fry reading the grave. Pretty enlightening if you ask me. The Sting's another good one. Quote
scoot Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 luck of the fryish had a few tears down my face, jurasic bark had them in my eyes, both are upsetting Quote
Nemo Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 the fact that fry said the dog forgot about him and went on to live a better life doubled the effect of watching the dog wait until it dies. luck of the fryrish is the only one of those 3 eps i mentioned that ended in a positive light. just for that, it falls short to jurassic bark in terms of sadness. Quote
Jobber Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I had some tears during the Eddie Guerrero tribute video with Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt" Quote
Tychoma Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I think I was closer to tears after Fryrish than after Jurassic Bark, maybe it's because I have a brother that I wasn't very close with at the time (we get on a lot more now that we both live away from home). Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Fox and the Hound. When all you could hear was "We'll be friend forever" I lost all bowel and emotional control. Quote
The Don Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Only movie I ever cried to was Click, I even borught it up to my buddy who will rag on anyone about anything but even he admitted that he broke down to it as well. As far as music goes, every now and then "You Never Know" by Immortal Technique will get me a little teary-eyed. Quote
CS Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 After having my german shepard Spooky die last year it's become alot easier for me to get all teary eyed and I got close to crying during "Below Zero", it was a pretty sad movie. Also Remember the Titans, American History X and The Lion King got tears running down my cheeks. Quote
Big Bizang Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 The Eddie Guerrero tribute on Raw had me bawling like a little bitch. Quote
