Aero Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 ok guys, post spiderman 3 reviews here with NO spoilers, all members found spoiling the movie will be delt with in some form of embarrasing way not yet thought of. Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 A freind of mine told me he went to see it at 12:01 last night. He said it was cool, but not as good as he was hoping. And without spoiling anything, he told me venom is in the movie for a good half an hour to 45 minutes- rather then the 10 minutes everyone said it would be. Quote
Aero Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 :o2 a spoiler, i never new venom was in it at all! Quote
Aero Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 but was it good? and is it set up well for another movie? Quote
Heart Breaker Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 It's a very good film, and it definitely sets you up for the fourth one. I just wasn't too crazy on how the film ended. Quote
jitz Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 It's a good for 3/4 of the movie. Really good. Some bad creative and pacing decisions were made that marred the entire thing and brings it down to the 3/5 stars it's been receiving. A lot has been said about emo Peter Parker (I don't feel that's a spoiler, Venom bonding with Peter is in the trailer) and all of it is deserved, I want Sam Raimi to come out and tell every that yes the twenty minutes were meant as one big joke, because everyone was laughing, but at how stupid it was. It really killed twenty minutes of the movie, especially when the movie was gaining pace making it even more painful. Oh and the disappearance of Gwen entirely after this scene left one of the major plots of the movie possibly lying on the cutting room floor. And the cutting room floor, you get the feeling it was already covered with film. Still though, some parts of the movie feel tedious, and I'm not talking about the drama scenes just because they weren't action scenes. Harry Osborn's scenes were great and established the character well in his motives. Sandman was established, and established, and established; we get the point Sam, we're meant to feel sorry for him. Meanwhile Eddie Brock was relatively skimmed over, and was playing catch up in the final scenes where Sam Raimi resorts to Eddie having to talk to every other character it seems through the Venom symbiote constantly, in order to blatantly explain himself. It took away from Venom who by that stage should have been built and should have been wreaking nonstop havok. The final Eddie scenes through the symbiote seem even more like an after thought as they feature the worst special effects in the entire movie. When you have a great looking movie, cheap scenes stand out more, and these stand out. And finally the 2 final scenes of the movie, cut and cut please. They served no purpose whatsoever. Im not bashing the movie, I did enjoy it, I realise it was an extremely hard movie to make and they did a good job. Character wise it's the worst film in the series, it really suffered from having too many characters much like X Men 3 did. Action wise it's the best in the series, the action scenes look incredible with a lot going on, even to the point of being hard to follow sometimes. 3/5 Stars. Bruce Campbell steals the show as the French guy. Quote

Fozy Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Oh god that was gay. Ok movie, for like less than half of it. Sandman was cool, goblin was ok, good goblin was queer and venom just sucked so much ass. Fuck the character development, fuck anything marvel-esque. Lets just make loads of really cheesey and shitty love scenes all over the place. God, I was so pissed. Quote
Nemo Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 the only thing that disappointed me was that venom went nameless throughout the entire movie. the ending wasnt very good either, but eh. i went in looking for awesome fight scenes and the movie delivered. also, the dance scene at the jazz club was awesome, you haters better stop hatin. sal gives this movie a 4/5. not enough venom. Quote
jitz Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 The dance scene was shit, it wasn't even good for a dance scene. Fucking Clerks 2 had a better dance scene. Quote
Aero Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 the movie seriously fucked me off, was good until it fucked me off, but it fucked me off never the less 2.765456456/5 Quote
takersfan Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Venom looke gay and wtf...ERIC FOREMAN!!!! they should of used like brock lesnar Quote
Fozy Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 You do realise people have real names, like Topher Grace. Quote
Nemo Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 depending on the situation, i might call him stephon. Quote
Aero Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 Venom looke gay and wtf...ERIC FOREMAN!!!! they should of used like brock lesnar venom turned out pretty cool and i thought topher did a decent job at it too, also eddie brock was neve HUGE ie brock lesnar status, it was only venom who was huge... tho granted eddie should have been a bit bigger, but then look what they did with kiingpin in daredevil, it could have been worse. Quote
Nemo Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 ...look what they did with kiingpin in daredevil, it could have been worse. having michael clarke duncan play the kingpin is the single worst casting mistake ever made in a superhero movie. Quote
jitz Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Bigger than casting Ben Affleck as Daredevil? Both were bad decisions Quote
Nemo Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 at least they got the skin color right with daredevil. Quote
Thom Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Venom looke gay and wtf...ERIC FOREMAN!!!! they should of used like brock lesnar Yeah you're right, why didn't they cast renowned actor Brock Lesnar?! Hold up, while disputing Raimi's shitty decision not to cast WWE Superstars for every role, why don't we petition the studio demanding Vince McMahon plays Jameson? Quote
