Heart Breaker Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Publisher: THQ Developer: Yukes US Release Date: November 13, 2007 UK Release Date: November 9, 2007 Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS Players: 6 Players Offline & 6 Players Online Roster SmackDown! Batista Chavo Guerrero Chris Masters Edge Finlay Gregory Helms Kane Kenny Dykstra Mark Henry Matt Hardy MVP Rey Mysterio Ric Flair The Great Khali Undertaker William Regal RAW Bobby Lashley Booker T. Carlito Jeff Hardy John Cena JTG Mr. Kennedy Randy Orton Sandman Shad Shawn Michaels Snitsky Triple H Umaga ECW CM Punk Elijah Burke Johnny Nitro Marcus Cor Von Legends Bret Hart Mick Foley Rick Rude Roddy Piper Sabu Steve Austin Terry Funk The Rock Tommy Dreamer Divas Ashley Candice Michelle Kelly Kelly Melina Michelle McCool Mickie James Torrie Wilson Commentators JBL Jerry Lawler Jim Ross Joey Styles Michael Cole Tazz ----------------- Cheat Codes DX Alternate Attires - DXCostume69K2 Kelly Kelly Alternate Attire - KellyKG12R ------------------- New Features Each wrestler will now feature two fighting style categories, one primary and one secondary. Each fighting style will have its advantages and disadvantages in particular match types. Overall, there will be eight styles altogether which are high-flyer, hardcore, submission artist, powerhouse, showman, brawler, dirty and technical. The wrestler's special move however will only be based on the wrestler's primary style. A new "struggle submission system" has been introduced, incorporating more analog control into the game. The player executing the submission now can decide how much pressure is applied through moving the analog stick in a particular direction. Conversely, the player locked in a submission hold will have to power out using the analog stick. The season mode and general manager mode from the previous games now have been merged to form the WWE 24/7 mode. Instead of the player fighting their way through the ranks of the WWE to win a world title at WrestleMania, the main quest is for the player to become a WWE legend and ultimately be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by completing a list of objectives. Depending on how established the player's wrestler is, the difficulty and amount of time it takes to become a Legend will vary. For example, if you are using the Undertaker in WWE 24/7 mode, it could take up to a mere 6 months to complete the list of objectives. However, if you are a created superstar, it could take as long as three years. It's all up to you. Also, SVR 2008 will be the first in the series to feature the revived ECW brand, which will be treated equal to the established RAW and SmackDown brands, phrased by THQ as an "ECW Invasion". Despite the inclusion of the brand, the video game franchise will keep its SmackDown! vs. RAW name. New animations will also be featured with this years game. Before, the superstars walked nearly the same and moved nearly the same. Their animations were very robotic. Now, atleast 80-90% of animations will be completely re-done. This all varies from how you walk, run, pick up weapons, switch from grapple to striking, etc. Console Advantages Each game produced by THQ will play to the specific console's advantages. For example, if you are using the Nintendo DS to play SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008, you will be using the touch screen to control your manuevers. If you are using the Wii, you will simply slash the Wii remote to punch, kick, etc. You'll also be lifting up the Wii remote in order to initiate moves such as the power bomb. Cory Ledesma has also stated the Wii version of SvR08, will be much more fast paced than it's 360 and PS3 counter part. There will be no such thing as Stamina with the Wii version. It'll basically just be a knock down, drag out fight in the ring. According to Ledesma, each game will play out to the console's specific strengths. Extreme Rules With the addition of ECW this year, we get a brand new match type, ECW Extreme Rules match. This match will only be playable in the ECW arena and it will feature a weapon wheel of sorts. When you go to grab a weapon under the ring, you are given the option to choose which weapon you want out. For example, if you want a ladder in your Extreme Rules match, simply go under the ring, choose the ladder from the weapon wheel and voila. This match will also enable you to light certain objects on fire. When you have a finisher stored, you have the ability to go to a table that is set up and light it on fire. This will add more damage to the player you are facing. And it also helps that it looks really bad ass when you put someone through a flaming table. ------------ Images Quote
deadman_cgc Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 very cool, there are also 2 videos on IGN.com I have a feeling that this is going to be too similar to Sd vs RAW 2007, yes, they did undergo a few things, but not that much at all. One thing im actually looking forward to is career mode, with the 24/7 stuff and all. Quote
bigpoppn Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Randy Couture?Do you mean Orton or if not who do you mean? Quote
Heart Breaker Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Wow. I can't believe I put Couture instead of Orton. My bad, guys. This year seems like they are tweeking the game quite a bit. Not too many changes. Just basically fighting styles and animations. Hopefully we'll get a new match type thrown in there, as well as a great WWE 24/7 mode. I'd also love to see certain matches like Elimination Chamber get a few tweeks as well. Quote
CS Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 I'm still waiting for a edge spear/sweet chin music with no stupid 5 second dancing afterwards. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 Excellent observation, Sal. Wish I didn't look at it though. Quote
jitz Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 The game has the official release date of November 4th in Australia, and that's for the PS3, no word on other consoles. It always gets delayed by a week or two though. Quote
