I know there has to be some comic nerds on ST who've been reading this event. Over here in England they're only releasing the story in graphic novel form this month which is shit because I've had to wait about 2 years but it's been worth it. I'm really enjoying it so far.

It's had flack and praise in equal measure so I was just wondering what you guys know of it or think of it or whatever.

I've wanted to read it, but I never got round to it.

I'll download the current issues and buy the rest.

If you just want the main body: Civil War 1-7. The Amazing Spider-man run fills in the blanks though like the Spidey/Iron Man smackdown: Amazing Spider-man 532-538

Do you have a forbidden planet shop near you they have the civil war comics, my mate at uni buys them there

Been getting my Civil War stuff from Waterstones. They may be soulless bastards but their graphic novel section is excellent.

bump.

i downloaded a torrent with all the comics canon to this story and theres fucking 90 something of them with a fuckton of sub-plots. im liking the shit thats going on with wolverine and nitro more than whats going on with cap and iron man.

after 20 or so comics, the law has finally been passed. how long is it until they build the jail or i dunno, theres some actual fighting?

Civil War 1-7 has all the important stuff and Amazing Spider-man arc has some stuff on Tony's Super-Gulag. Haven't read any of the Wolverine arc, which run does Nitro appear in?

Posted

it starts in wolverine #42. not sure where it ends yet.

My great uncle had his TONGUE shot off in the war.

He never talked about it.

...Moving on...

I still have to read the Iron Man and Front Line series but I'm going to have to wait until I get paid now, which is arse. Not looking forward to the future Speedball faggotry.

Posted

speedball gets less annoying as his story progresses. imo, xfactor is the worst. i cant even read that shit anymore.

frontline is pretty good, especially the ben urich halves. definitely worth a read.

Posted

Yeha but knowing what Speedball turns into and all the ass-rapings (literal ones mind) in his future I'd rather not read, but then again I should really be informed before passing judgement. Did you read Planet Hulk at all Sal?

Posted

naeppe. does hulk rape speedball or something?

edit:

lol

YES! WWE and comics collide once again!

Nah Hulk doesn't rape the guy some dude in prison does I think. Planet Hulk was ace, after the Illuminati shoot him off into space he lands on an alien planet and leads a rebellion against the emperor. It alll leads into World War Hulk which is going to kill us all with its awesomeness.

downloading planet hulk now.

i guess the bad part of reading all these different stories at once is that it gets kind of hard to focus on certain details in certain series' which probably explains why i dont remember speedball getting raped. however, i do recall him beating the crap out of one of his fellow inmates. so as far as sal is concerned, speedball is nobodys bitch.

lol

I shall be stealing that

Yeah, planet hulk is a step up from previous hulk comics. It's really fucking good.

Posted

Plus it being classic sci-fi at its best. I was really impressed, the artwork is gorgeous as well.

I've got the first part of WWH but I don't want to read it until I've finished Civil War in case it spoils stuff.

Posted

ok so im up to part 5. the main comics are way too fucking short. seriously, they should be at least twice the length of the tie-ins.

fuck you, marvel.

Thanks for that; Stephen Fry.

It was All the Skrull!!!!!!

I know it, Electra was a Skrull, Iron Man Could be Skrull but right now hes is a metallica naked lady-Ultron.

Anyone have ideas on who else could be a Skrull? Cap'n Dead and he didnt turn into a Skrull so hes out.

Posted

I reckon Spider-man will say it was a skrull that was pretending to be Peter Parker when he revealed his identity to fuck up his life, thereby getting his anonymity back.

Posted

alright so i finished the series the other day and god damn, what a huge letdown. the one guy who started the anti-reg movement and single handedly started the civil war abruptly forfeits in the end? bullshit.

for what its worth, im glad symbiote spidey is back.

Posted

Oh yeah it's about time.

I actually wasn't upset with the finish, there didn't seem to be much motivation for him to quit, kinda out of the blue, but it serves the storylines that Marvel are presenting now what with Tony becoming director of SHIELD, next stop President of the USA, believe it!

It would have been rubbish if Cap had won.

Posted

agreed. but it wouldve been better if they killed cap instead.
