While you're watching Saim Raimi's Spider-Man 3, look out for the proverbial kitchen sink, and even the cuddly toy from TV's Generation Game; everything's been thrown at this movie. Some of it hits the target (the CGI, the action), but crucial parts don't (the script, the pacing, half of the subplots).

The film opens with life all hunky dory for Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) and M.J. (Kirsten Dunst); Spider-Man's got celebrity status in New York and M.J. is a working actress. However, domestic bliss doesn't last long. A meteor crashes to Earth and black alien slime, the symbiote that will cause so much havoc, makes a beeline for our hero who inadvertently takes the stuff home.

And the troubles pile up: on the run from the cops, small-time crook Flint Marko (Thomas Hayden Church) meets with an accident and becomes Spidey's formidable foe, The Sandman. Then there's New Goblin, alter ego of Peter Parker's best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco).

Guy can't keep up with a couple of simple plotlines and whines because he doesn't know much of the back story. Later on he refers to Peter's neighbour as 'fabulously kooky'... fuck this review.

The movie has been copping it in quite a few reviews actually, not just this one. From what I gather is it gets tediously bogged down on some unimportant plot points, but simply skims over other crucial ones.

I'll still be checking it when it comes out in two days, it can't be any worse than the Elektra movie.

I never really put too much stock in reviews until I've seen the film myself. I will admit I have ridiculously high fanboy expectations and this is not the only 3star review I've read but it's Spidey! I love a lot of Spider-man stuff that most wrote off as shite (I loved the Clone Saga for example) so I won't write this off until I've passed judgement. Me and the reviewer are two different audiences.

The only problem is Amy is making me wait until she comes down to see me so we can watch it together. That's 6 whole days after the film comes out!

See it by yourself like one of those loners you always laugh at, then go and see it with her and pretend it's all new to you.

You have to see it by yourself the first time and not with friends because honestly, people just can't keep their mouths shut.

i'm not even reading that, only reviews i go by are reviews from the public, plus seeing how i've watched the first 2 and venom is in this one, it HAS to be watched even if it is crap.

Wow. I'm stunned that it only got 3 out of 5 stars. I really hope this reporter has no fucking clue what he's talking about. But I'll definitely be giving my personal review after I see the movie.

I care about Total Film's reviews. Or at least I did until they voted Superman Returns the best film of 2006. That film was shit!

but theres no indication that the reviewer made his mind up before seing the film,m if anything the guy knows less about spider-man in the comics etc than most of us here, and with 2 great movies already released, i can only imagine the guy went in with high expectations, afterall this is one of the more anticipated films to the genral public of 2007 so far. my assumption is the guy went in with high expectations, then the film didnt live up to them, and then, upon what happened with the film and its dissapointments he left and overly harsh review.

i just dont see this as prejudice, people who review these films genrally go in with an open, none clouded mind.

see the nway i read all stars message, it looked as though he was saying 'the reviewer has seen the film in its full extent and has THEN pre judged it', which was illogical to me, but i completly get where your coming from, and it is fully possible that the reviewer decided before he saw the film that it was going to be crap.

i just hold onto the hope that the film follows the trend and surpasses its predacesor
