Trips Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I was playing football at a local place called Vida Tuesday night (hosts various 5 a side leagues, I'm in 2 leagues, one on a Tuesday and one on a Thursday) and unfortunatly suffered a break right at the bottom of my leg near my ankle last night. I've had consistant problems with my ankles since a early age, I was constantly turning over on them when playing sports, twisting them and bruising them, they are very weak joints. This time I took a shot but was required to turn on my standing (left) foot at the same so I was facing the opposition goal to get the shot in. As I swivveled on my standing foot while pulling my right leg back to shoot a guy on the opposite team came in for a tackle but caught the side of my ankle causing it to turn on its side, my ankle completely crumpled under my weight (im 6'2", 16 stone (about 225lb I think)) and as I went down my foot literally twisted upwards and my toes were touching my shin. The noise was disgusting as you could hear my bone break and crumple under my weight and I was in instant agony. My ankle swelled to the size of my upper leg within minutes and it was absolutely killing me, I obviously cant walk or pretty much do anything and its really really frustrating. I feel like a charity case. After waiting in the hospital from 10:00pm till 3:00am they decided to finally tell me that it wasnt hospital policy to X-Ray ankles at that time of the night and I would have to come back the next morning to have it X-Rayed. So I've spent about 9 hours of the last 2 days in hospital for them to tell me I have broken the bottom of my leg and put a temporary cast on (I cant have a proper one on till tommorow afternoon when the swelling will be completely out). I'm really frustrated because I can't walk or sleep properly, get comfortable, drive or anything. Im annoyed because I have to go back to hospital AGAIN tommorow and wait yet again for hours. So yeah, thats my major event. Im in agony here, and really drowzy from the pain killers I have been taking. So any stories, sympathy, e.t.c. to keep me entertained would be great. Any ideas to squash my boredom to. Quote
Jonny Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 pics or it didnt happen. I was waiting for that. Quote
scoot Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 well the only bone in my right arm that i havent broken is my shoulder, this is simply because im a vegetarian that doesnt eat vegetables and gets very little in the way of good food or drink, so my bones have also always been shitty. i know the pain you must be going through and it sucks major balls. you will get through it and it will get better (although id expect a good 10 weeks in a cast with it being such a major break, and with you having weak feet). good luck Quote
jitz Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Thanks for you story on your eating disorder scoot, teenage girls every shed a tear, none are here though. Meanwhile, while Trips is complaining about having to wait around a hospital, people are dying in that very same hospital making room for him. Who should we really be sorry for? You, or the people taken from the world arguably before their time? Quote
Trips Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Thanks for you story on your eating disorder scoot, teenage girls every shed a tear, none are here though. Meanwhile, while Trips is complaining about having to wait around a hospital, people are dying in that very same hospital making room for him. Who should we really be sorry for? You, or the people taken from the world arguably before their time? Not quite true Jitty, for a start you are treated in a "Minor Injuries" department where the dieing people dont go and where the doctors simply arent well trained or experienced enough to deal with criticals. Secondly it's not like I'm asking for a anyone to vacate a bed for me all im asking for is a X-Ray and a cast and for me to go about my business. Thirdly the NHS in Britain right now is in a complete mess, for example I saw a lad who I used to go to school with in there who was claiming that he had injured his foot playing football. He still had his shoe on and could still walk fine e.t.c. Later he admitted to me that basically he was in there to get a sick note so that, even though he was on the doll (sp?), he could continue receiving his money without having to look for a job and really there was nothing wrong with him. Now thinking about probably the hundreds if not thousands of people that are pulling this stunt around the country needlessly, it's people like that, and not the dieing people in hospitals, who are causing the rediculously long waiting times for the National Health Service and not the dieing or dead. So sorry for me basically. Quote
scoot Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 problem is, as ridiculous as that story sounds, its not all that uncommon Quote
Trips Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 The best I can offer is a pic of my cast? Which has just been put on this afternoon. Quote
Fozy Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Stop asking for pics you morons. That sucks Dan. Next time, break the guy's face. Quote
Trips Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 I had it assesed today and put in a full plaster, I have broken my fibula in my left leg. It's settling in the cast now and the pain is kind of easing off. Still it feels a bit odd and is really disabilitating, having to get up and down staires on your arse is really degrading aswell. Fozy Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 At least some guys didn't spray your eyes with deodorant. Quote
jitz Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Thanks for the update on the British health sector Trips, also kudos for the info on where to go if I break my leg, man would I have looked stupid walking into neurology. You made the point though, the British health system is in dire straits, they have bigger things to worry about than your broken leg that isn't contagious, infectious, degenerative, a risk to others, or threatening to your own life. Everybody that works in that hospital has something better they could be doing than to help you with you self proclaimed weak leg that you injured in a game of sport that you played on your own will. Somebody taking their lunch break is more important than your break. Quit complaining you spoilt brat. Quote
Trips Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Oh wait, I just remembered why I dont post new threads. Firstly you come in and take a completely unprovoked little attack at Scoot, which is not at all warrented really, and then me? I'm just sharing a little experience something maybe if everyone else on the board did, would make it a little more active than it is now. But maybe then again people don't want to because they just get rediculed and called a spoilt brat, which also there is no need for because no where in the topic did I even bring in any material posessions or anything to even suggest that I am spoilt. Maybe next time Jitz, you could just reply in the same frame as Scoot, Iain e.t.c. and not just have a go for no reason? You could have even put the point your putting across without the abuse? I wasnt asking for anyone to feel sorry for me really its just a talking point, not an excuse to pointlessly have a go. If you dont like it, dont reply, I dont attack you so dont attack me and just keep out of it. Quote
Nemo Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 ...the British health system is in dire straits, they have bigger things to worry about than your broken leg that isn't ...threatening to your own life.... chris candido died due to complications from a worse but similar injury. even if there were more urgent cases than trips', he shouldnt have been sent home untreated...or diagnosed for that matter. jitz Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 So any stories, sympathy, e.t.c. to keep me entertained would be great. Any ideas to squash my boredom to. You asked for sympathy, never ask anyone to feel sorry for you. Never complain about a hospital unless you want to pay higher taxes. Unprovoked my arse, you acted like the world owed you, whinging you were in constant pain and couldn't get comfortable. Be thankful for what you got, you spoilt brat. Sal, Chris Candido's cause of death was jobbing. Quote
Trips Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 I didn't get anything you fucking idiot. Taxes in Britain are extremely high and a decline in the economy is eminent so we already pay enough, I don't pay taxes and national insurance to be sent home like that after a pointless wait. As soon as I entered A&E surely they could have said "Look, its not hospital policy to X-Ray ankles at this time and you will just have to come back tomorrow." There was no need for me to wait around for 6 hours to be sent home completely untreated it's a waste of my time and the doctors time who have to look at me but unable to take any action, not to mention resources. It's a bit tongue in cheek from me to ask for the sympathy anyway, get off your high horse Jitz for gods sake, grow up stop attacking for no reason. It's true im not going to die or anything from a broken fibula, I never said I was going to die. I stressed that it hurt, which it did and Deep Vein Thrombosis can occur and thats extremely dangerous even in minor injuries. Anyway, that Quote
Fozy Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I can't see why he's attacking you either, seems like he's just trying to be the Smacktalks dick or something. lol Quote
Nemo Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 its a title he will never win. not as long as i have it. Quote
