Chillalex Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Hello! Firstly disregard (English) as nationality doesnt really matter in one sense. I am looking at the decline of perverts over the years, for my final project. It deals with how we as society have gone nastier and things that used to be perverted now arent - observe Ann Summers for one, to see how far we've "come" (no pun intended, i think its kind of sad and tacky.) So when, back in the 70s, touching a womans arse on the bus was the height of perversion, it now is seen as friendly flirting, and it takes genuine filth to disgust us now. So im looking at 5 time periods, roughly; The Victorians 1930's 1970's 1980-1990 Present and what I ask for you people, is; What do you see as truly perverted nowadays? What really makes you think some ones a pervert? Any input on the other time periods is MUCH appreciated as well. Remember this is a serious discussion, so any scoot jokes will not be welcomed. Im asking the community as the project does need to look at public perception as well, not just my own, because for one, im desensitized to women getting fucked by octupi. Quote
Nemo Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 olden times were just as perverted as today. brothels, houses of burlesque, etc. were the strip clubs of those days. i think it was the early 90s when pinup girls started to emerge as well. if they had tv and/or the internets back in the day, there wouldve been plenty of porn. the main difference is that anything perverted was done behind closed doors. women couldnt just go around outside dressed half naked. the further back you go, the more clothes a woman had to wear to go outside. in the victorian days, women werent even expected to have any kind of conversations outside the house, only small talk (LUVLEY WETHAR WERE HAVIN, AM I RITE?!). so yeah, society hasnt really changed other the fact that we let women do what they want outdoors. Chillalex Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 which is absolutely DISGUSTING. Sort of missing the point though Quote
Nemo Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 as much as culture has changed, men havent. theres always been a time and place for everything. only the place is "everywhere" now. Quote
Chillalex Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 I sort of see your point but I dare say ghosting wasnt around! anyway jokes aside Being less pedantic; look at what we PERCEIVE as perverted now. Of course theres ALWAYS gonna be corpse-fuckers, but its more what we see it AS. Quote
Nemo Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 i dont think any sexual act short of shitting in someones mouth is considered perverted nowadays. from corpse fucking to pedophilia, the nastiest of the nasty are usually attributed to mental illnesses instead of just really gross fetishes. hell, even homosexuality is seen a mental ailment...which apparently can be cured. consider this: interracial sex was frowned upon in early times and still is. but it is more acceptable today than it was back when blacks were killed just for speaking improperly to white women...which was maybe 50 years ago. its really hard to say. considering theres a website for fucking everything, one would think that nothing is perverted anymore. but if a few people back in the day enjoyed pissing all over one another as people do today, nothing has changed. just because folks can use the internet as a medium to market their fetishes and to congregate with those worldwide who share them, doesnt mean that these acts are generally accepted in society or seen as less perverted. do thousands of people enjoy horse fucking sites? probably. is it generally accepted in society? i fucking hope not.
