Right. This movie rules. Everyone go watch it. Seriously.

I hear all this shit about it being overrated and didn't live up to the hype, but I didn't really hear anything about it before seeing it, and I was blown fucking away. Beautiful movie, beautiful story, pretty moving really.

So, go get it, watch it at the movies, download it, whatever. It really is that good.

I saw this at Nova weeks ago for free thanks to one of the many bisexuals that work there (everybody that works there, that isn't out right gay), one of the female ones, not male. Yes it was awesome. Now I don't want to talk it up too much because it's one of those movies that you have to walk into going "It's subtitled, this could be a train wreck within the first 10 minutes, is it polite to leave when you're here for free?". For those of us that don't frequently watch subtitled films, the script isn't overly long (the movie is more a visual masterpiece, with a basic but strong story) and nobody talks too fast or over the top of each other so the subs are clear and coherent. The first five minutes I was reading the subs but don't really taking it in, after that I was used to it and fully enjoying the movie without noticing that i was reading the movie at all.

The worst part was the 20 minute argument after the movie about who the fuck 'Pan' is, started of course by yours truly.

Yes great movie, but Hill next time you recommend a foreign movie, warn that it's subtitled as it's really not clearly labelled these days. If I wasn't told by Nova worker 4 hours before we saw the movie I wouldn't have known till the first subtitle popped up on screen in which case a loud "oh shit" would have escaped my mouth, and i'm the one that wanted to see the movie the entire week beforehand.

I really don't have a problem with Subs, I would rather that than a soulless dub from Catherine Zeta Jones or some shit.

I love this movie, it's beautiful. For those of you who've seen it, ask yourself this question, the answer to which is splitting viewers in half:

Did the end leave you happy or sad?

It had a happy ending. Abrupt, but happy. The only sadness came from the movie being over.

Nice.

I've arguments about this and without giving away the ending I think it comes down to how cynical you are whether you thought it was a happy or sad ending. Me, happy.

Yeah this is certainly going to head towards spoiler territory.

I had a paragraph with my opinion but it featured spoilers even when i was trying not to. Simply put, she ends up in the best situation possible at the end of the movie. It wasn't the happiest ending, but it was a happy ending.

Spoiler tags...

Anyway, I thought of it as a pretty sad ending when I first watched it. Mainly because I thought she imagined everything, it was just a way for her to escape the turmoils of life, and that's pretty sad that she died.

But, there seems to be more proof in favour of the underworld being real now that I think about it. Her mum falling ill when the book bled, her being able to get into the captains room etc.

Still kind of sad, but atleast happier than the whole thing being imagined. That was depressing.

Yeah they ahhh did nothing to lead you to believe that she imagined it all. The father and mother both saw the root that was under the bed, no you could argue that they never saw it move, but it was one hideous root that I've never seen anywhere. When the root died amongst shrieks, the mother was forced the give birth, strange for something she imagined.

Girl goes away with mother to new father. New father not nice. Girl finds labyrinth. Faun at labyrinth tells girl she is the daughter of a King from another world and that gates were placed on this world ages ago so that the day she was reincarnated, she could travel back. Faun sends her on quests to prove herself as daughter of King. Shit happens, blood is spilt, crazy shit happens, a bit more violence, followed by some sadness, then more violence with even more blood etc.

It's an R rated fairy tale.
