jitz Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Midway have released a whopping three screenshots from their upcoming TNA Impact game. With no antialiasing implemented and what's hopefully a placeholder crowd the arena looks pretty standard, Joe however looks awesome. http://au.media.ps3.ign.com/media/814/814948/imgs_1.html
ALL STAR Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 The character models for aj and joe arnt half bad. But the arena looks shit, also the texture look abit rough aswell
scoot Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 i rekon the arena screen may be from a PSP version of the game.
bigpoppn Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Man,they look good for a sneak peak but not for the finished models and the crowd sucks : they look BAAAAAAD
jitz Posted January 28, 2007 Author Posted January 28, 2007 This is why developers don't like showing shit early. i rekon the arena screen may be from a PSP version of the game. No, it's the PS3 version, it's in development, it's not finished. It's being built from the ground up, THQ can get nice looking screen shots out after a few months of development because they've already got 95% of the ground work already there. There's even a huge glitch in the middle of the ring. Wait another 3 months and see the improvement.
Androes Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 There is a simple reason it looks dodgey in some aspects, it's made by Midway and it's also probably on quite a low budget. This is Midways first big wrestling game. So far they've developed some pretty cheesey games like Psi Ops for example. It's also comming out on the 360 as far as I know. I remeber seeing soemthing on the offical TNA site.
jitz Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 That was correct 5 years ago, Midway developed and published quite a large profile of games, and most of them were crap. This brought them to the verge of bankruptcy. They canned a lot of games internally, let a few publishing deals go and closed a stack of studios around the globe. These days they concentrate on their internally developed games, with more people working on them with more development time to try to right the wrongs of the past. The reinvigorated Mortal Kombat franchise is the flagship example of this, sure Armageddon wasn't too flash, but it's issue wasn't a development it was the shitty idea somebody had for the fatalities. I swear he would have been sacked by now. Oh and I reckon part of the reason for Midway picking up the TNA license is Ed Boon wanting to show his old buddy John Tobias (co creators of Mortal Kombat for the uninformed) how the make a wrestling game. John Tobias left Midway over a disagreement about the direction of the Mortal Kombat franchise, he went on to open Studio Gigante which developed Tao Feng (you'd be forgiven for never having heard of it) and WWE Wrestlemania 21, yes that mess. The company went bankrupt.
Chillalex Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 does indeed look a bit low quality in the texture department im assuming this is just depending on how the did the promo screens though, im sure that in the final build it wont possibly look like all the textures are compressed jpgs looking decent but if thats a next gen build then..hmm..
