their servers could use a little upgrading if a little board like this is giving em a rough time. ive never seen cpu usage anywhere in a hosts plan or tos. if it isnt on yours, that means cpu usage is their problem, not yours.

also, you can get a good dedicated server for a lot cheaper than $500.

There not that bad, it's only this CPU crap thats causing the problems. At the moment i'm having them monitor the usage. There support quality is great thats why I'm looking to go for the server with them. But if you know of a good reliable host I can look in to it'd be really appreciated.

A dedicated server is the way to go as it'll give us more space and bandwidth then we'll ever need. That'll mean we'll be able to offer more to members, i.e. webspace, blogs, galleries, ftp downloads, etc. as well as the last invision board and all uprades. It'll also mean we can run multiple sites from the server and possibly offer cheap hosting to help towards the cost of the server.

For the moment the changes that I made seem to have dropped the usage by 55%, so things seem to be ok for the time being. I'll still look to getting the dedicated server once I can afford it as it'll be a lot more beneficial to us and enable us to offer a lot more than we currently do.
