Which reminds me, I was watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture yesterday (out of curiosity), and the conclusion reached was that the machine 'race' needed to advance beyond logic in order to evolve, as humans have done. Is it just me, or is that a total cop out? We haven't evolved beyond logic, we only 'stray from logic' in the areas in which we are ignorant.

The very nature of existence means that nothing can be called illogical, as logic is a term coined by humans- and we don't possess enough knowledge to view things holistically. The fact that we sometimes think 'illogically' must therefore be logical, because it occurs.

It's hard to put into words, I just thought Kirk was being an arrogant prick.

Yeah I preferred him more when he was just shouting 'KHHAAAANNNN!' and all that.

Interesting point raised here though, when do we reach the point where we can't name anything anymore? When will there be an occurrence where we have to hold up our hands and say 'We cannot possibly understand this'?

Don't insult Kirk. William Shatner is one of the greatest icons of the 20th Century.
