When To Upgrade to HDDVD?

Recommended Posts

While I was at Target I saw the HD-DVD player for the 360 and now I'm wondering when will the best time be to upgrade? I got a nice 5 disc surround sound system last year that is still working fine for me, but I also have a HDTV. The movie selection is rather limited now too, but I'm assuming soon that will change.

in the long run, you'll probably end up switching to hd-dvd anyway. you might as well start now.

If you have the right setup I'd be buying the player now, but without the right setup you're pissing money away.

If you've got a big LCD that runs 1080i (1080p is better but only the new top line stuff support it), a HDMI cable going from the 360 to the tv, a good hifi setup with a good amp and good speakers - then you have what it takes. Anything less and you won't notice the difference.

id wait a while to see how well it all takes off, i, like Don have a nice large HDTV and an ample sound system. but if the thing doesnt take off id rather wait around with standard DVDs. having said that i said the same thing about VHS and look at how that has been moved out by DVD

I have a TV/DVD combi that has lost all sound on the TV channels because I am a penniless student. Is it really necessary? What difference does it really make? Still the same TV shows.

as far as tv goes, us over here in the uk, thanks to our higher qaulity picture feed before hd came about, you'll notice less of an increase than in the likes of america, as such, i couldnt give a fuck about hd yet, atleast not until its cheaper
