Chillalex Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 done this a few weeks back in about 6 hours or so, its for a 2-way split CD. I like it, myself, took a new approach to doing it and it worked out well. Ive yet to finish all the design and layout though, and theyre on my ass so im doing it now. Just thought id post it up here! Quote
Big Bizang Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I like it, very cool. P.S. Alex, where you've been all my life? Quote
Nemo Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 the link isnt working for me (or matt apparently), but judging from the thumbnail, it looks pretty nice. good job, i guess. Quote
Joe =/ Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You know what that reminds me of ? Nice job - it looks like a pretty fucking sweet design. Good luck finishing it up. Quote
Chillalex Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 This is most of the art finished, i havent posted in ages. http://www.medicinal-waste.co.uk/splitart.png The heart illustration on the back I drew and painted in Painter IX I just have the CD design left (left vector files at home!) Back of leaflet is done. Excuse the size of the image, I had to shrink it down as the original png was 3mb. Quote
samountain Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Goddamn that's one impressive heart. Damn... Serious skills alex. Dunno about the fading of the artists, seems out of place, and kind of ruins the feel. Maybe if you could draw them in all mangled and shit, and have the same colour range as the heart, or whatever. I dunno. I dunno if you have enough time. Seriously though, damn good work... Hows your band going? Quote
Chillalex Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 hello thanks for the constructive criticism. I had not thought much in to the layout of the artists and the fading and thanks to you I will, in future, think more about it, so thanks. I did consider making them all mangled to be honest but time was of the essence unfortunately and I was after a way to find a small, 72dpi JPG look intentionally bad quality when blown up to that size at 300dpi. Dammit. Anyway thats all finished now, the art has been sent to the printers and its a done job. I have a few more lined up so maybe in the coming months I can post stuff. I hope to do better quality to be honest, because while I shouldnt say this, i do think that this could be better. BUT i am happy with how it came out, and I learnt alot about creating imagery for professional circumstances. My band.. its going ok. ive hit a mental block on the last two songs. I had a fifth all written out but tbh the composition and arrangement wasnt too original so ive got to redo that and the sixth needs a total arrangement, and its really hurting me because i dont know where to start. This said I should be recording some samples very soon. In fact theres a god awful sample on our myspace page which is just guitars and drums, and good lord, I knew NOTHING about audio mixing and mastering so its so atrocious, lol I just dont think a music page should exist without music.
