motion to remove post counts

Recommended Posts

Posted

pros:

- people wont be judged based on post counts

- if people dont know their count, they wont know where to start or begin to get to the next rank, which i believe would give people less incentive to spam until they get x amount of posts. sure they count their own posts 1 by 1 which, but that would be too much of a hassle to keep up after 100 or so. maybe less.

cons:

none.

so yeah. formal request to disable post counts.

If they're removed, how will the noobs know I'm better than them?

Besides my good looks, of course

Posted

you're gonna have to rely on your good looks once badboiskillz has more posts than you.

sure, you may look better than him (he's black), but what if he sports his tin foil grillz? are you willing to take that risk? ARE YOU!?

Why can't we just delete it from the regular menu but leave it when you go to your control panel. Also we should take away post count for custom status.

Is there a way of making it so it shows what bracket of posts your in ?

What I mean is:

Your post count could say:

"500 Posts +"

"1000 Posts +"

"1500 Posts +"

"2000 Posts +"

etc, etc. Or even just 1000+ 2000+ 3000+, to give an idea of how many posts the member has made.

Just an idea.

Speaking of post counts, this is my 1000th post. To be honest, I AM ASHAMED OF POSTING THAT MANY TIMES ON A MESSAGE BOARD.

:(

err, kinda pointless imo, but yes, in theory, the post count can be removed from the posts and kept in the profiles.....

2 admins made 3 replies in this thread and an answer still hasnt been given.

there hasnt exactly been an overwhelming response so far sal, and im not gonna turn around and do something just at your say so.

that said, im sure if enough ppl are in favour of your idea then mayb something will be done.

I actually don't think new members are criticised for their smaller post counts, they've been criticised for moronic posts, but not post counts.

I don't see them as a problem. The only reason to get rid of them would be because they mean so little now, it seems the larger your post count, the bigger idiot you are.

All unfair generalisations aside, I reckon they should stay.

I'd just like to point out that it's Jonny and some other of the new guys that actually say these things, why not just ban them? Everyone wins.

Posted (edited)

Well personally i like them!

and anyway you can tell a noob by when they joined

Edit: i just thought id add this in here as theres a lot of mods around, id like to change my name soon is this possible?
