The Don Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Pharrell Williams In Negotiation To Perform At Princess Diana Tribute By Clarence Burke Jr. Date: 11/26/2006 11:59 am xml Rapper Pharrell Williams is in negotiations to take part in a massive concert to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. The charity concert is being planned by Princes William and Harry, and will take place at the new Wembley Stadium on July 1, Princess Diana's 46th birthday, various London newspapers reported today (Nov. 26). Artists like Madonna, Beyonce, The Killers, Kylie Minogue, George Michael and Elton John are also being considered by the Princes, who are handpicking each act. Over 90,000 fans will gather for the concert at the new Wembley Stadium, which is due to open in May of 2007. The concert will also be broadcast to fans worldwide. Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981. She became world famous for her charity work and her rocky marriage to Prince Charles, the father of Prince William, 24 and Prince Harry, 22. The royal marriage came to an end in 1992 and finally divorce, in 1996. In August of 1997, Princess Diana was killed in a mysterious car crash along with her billionaire boyfriend Dodi Fayed and his chauffeur. Rumors of a collaboration between Pharrell and Prince William began to surface in July, when the pair met during The Audi Polo charity tournament. Williams hinted that his collaboration with Prince William could for a charitable cause. "I spoke to William before he played polo," Williams told reporters in July. "We spoke about doing something. I can't say what it is, except it's going to be big." http://www.allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=6433 Has it really been 9 years already? Anyways, looks like a solid show. Discuss. Quote
Thom Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Looks like bullshit. Why is there even going to be a concert in the first place, and why are there rumours of artists like Beyonce and The Killers playing? How is Bootylicious at all fitting for the mood of the 10th anniversary of somebody's death? Fair enough Elton John and George Michael, because they actually met her, but Pharrell was still a wannabe skateboarder when Princess Diana died. Sounds to me like they're all just trying to get publicity by doing a "good deed". If U2 end up playing it, I'm going to leave the country, and discover a secluded island where Bono is unknown. Quote
