jitz Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 The 360 version scored an 8/10. There's a fair bit of negative comments through-out the review but the closing comments sums up the game best I feel. Don't let our nitpicking fool you (after all, we snipe because we care) -- WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 is still an imposing beast of a wrestling game. Regardless of its dated animations, rosters, and foolish AI, it's still a heck of a lot of fun. Thousands of different grappling holds await those who tread its squared circle, while the new analog-based mechanics and ultimate control moves add depth to a system that most would expect to be exhausted. In other words, think of SmackDown 2007 as the Ric Flair of videogames -- a wrestling great with enough titles and fond memories to keep its forward momentum for yet another, but aged to a point where we're questioning how much longer it can go. I'm just happy to know that my problems with the series has been recognised, how much longer will we have to put up with essentially the same game year in and year out? It's run out of legs. Quote
kebongski Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 You're right tho. SD games need to re haul the game. I mean, the engine is good, but there is barely changes, besides ofcourse awesome GFX. They need to try putting in day of reckoning 2 stuff in there. Quote
ALL STAR Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 They should mo cap all the moves in the game some of the older moves look really bad by todays standards Well with next year ecw will be in so i think they will improve the hardcore system in the game which should be great Quote
Fozy Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Go play some Wrestlemania 21, I'm sure all that was mo-capped. Holy shit, that aspect ruined the game. Quote
ALL STAR Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I liked the mo-capped moves in wm21 it was one of the only good things about the game Quote
Jobber Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I wish that you could update rosters using Xbox live like you can with sports games. Quote
S2D Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 actually all IGN did was copy and paste the PS2 review over, this has been discussed on the GameFAQ forums, so IGN are just lazy bastards and got the PS3 launch up their ass so don't care about anythign else and it shows with this and the Superstar of the day Quote
jitz Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 That is what IGN does with every multi-platform review, they always have, so this is nothing about PS3 launches. They change sentences and paragraphs that are console specific, but why re-write an entire review for a game that is identical across the systems? They mentioned the sweat in the 360 review, I assume they didn't in the PS2 review. I don't see what your problem is. Quote
S2D Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Actually I personally haven't seen them do it before, and what about the Superstar of the day? The last ones were only PS2 and they just ported them over, they got lazy plain and simple Quote
Nemo Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 im surprised they gave the game an 8/10 after saying they dont know how much longer it can go. sounds like a sympathy rating to me. Quote
Ducky Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 smackdown vs raw 2007 as the ric flair of video games?????? its not that old lol Quote
jitz Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 I do believe that's their jobs, you know, to point out faults. Quote
