Sony Ericsson K800i

I got a Nokia 6280 about 6 months ago when I signed up for a contract with 3, but I found the build quality to be poorer than I'd expect. I hope whichever Chinese child made the faceplate and battery cover to fall off gets mangled in some machinery. The software's pretty shit as well; turning off in the middle of typing messages or when trying to switch the profile to and from silent. It just wasn't good enough for me, I looked a right charlie with that as me bone, so I decided to scrap it, and buy a sim-free Sony ericsson K800i (The one with a 3.2mpx camera). Just wondered if anybody else has got one, and if there's anything I should know about it, tips, software tricks, stuff to download, all that shit.

good choice in phone, tho i still prefer the 2.0mp w810i.

if you register with sony ericsson theres a few free things you can download.

also try here - myw800 - its good for stuff

and if you are any good with photoshop/paintshop get the theme creator which is good - theme creator

There are a few phones that I prefer, but I just can't bring myself to buy anything which isn't top of the range if there's a better option available to me in my price range.

fair dues, its a good phone, i just prefere the buttons etc is all, the biggest difference is the mp3 player "isnt as good" neither are the headphones..... i dont use either lol.

im getting my free phone from orange soon, holding off for the W950i, gonna use that as a second phone, no camera but is cool as fuck, touch screen etc lol.

oh, also, on that website there is an opera browser (is also available via sony ericssons site) which is better than the shit the put on it to start with

Yeah I've got Opera Mobile on my 6280 at the minute, pretty nifty bit of software.

I don't mind about the MP3 player not being as good, the one on the 6280 is appalling, I've only had to use it in the absence of my iPod on about 2 occasions, but as long as the loudspeakers loud enough for me to be able to listen to music when I'm in the shower, I'm good.

Any idea if you can record video in .avi yet?

yeah i had the same problem with the 6280, but i didnt buy the k800i i just bitched to three and they gave it to me...

the only thing id say is get a case for it...i didnt, and the back hump where the camera is is totaly wrecked now (only had it a few months) - i find it slides down quite easilly, turning the camera on in your pocket and wasting the battery....
