Matt Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 evening everyone, hows it? so yeah, the british legal system is shit. about a month ago i was out with some mates and during the night my mate had his wallet stolen, he reckoned it was a girl who was acting strangly around him, we went outside where she was about to get on a bus and managed to stop the bus, the driver started shouting etc and long story short, the girl did have the wallet, we got it back but were then approached by a guy on the bus who got off, grabbed my mate and said "im a police officer if you dont move i will arrest you" long story short, i asked him for his warrant card, he came nose to nose with me and said its at the police station, i said lets go and get it then yeah? he then pushed me, i pushed him back and then he grabbed my arm and said your nicked for assault...he then walked off so i followed him (towards the station, funnily enough) he then bolted into the tube station where we smacked me one in the eye, then i grabbed him to stop him getting on the train. so yeah, police came, he was nicked for impersonating a police officer and ABH. i get a call yesterday saying that if i wish to pursue an allegation of assault that he was filing one aswell and there would therefore be a warrant put out for my arrest. so i dropped the charges. gay it had to be the british transport police, as my mum asked me "was it the BTP or the real police?"...i laughed. hows everyone? Thom Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 He wouldn't have actually had a case against you though, assuming it all went down as you described. Plus he would come off worse, impersonating a police officer as well. Plus it's letting somebody who's obviously a prick roam the streets, so there's always the chance he could do it to somebody else. Quote
Aero Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 you could technically argue self defence and your friend could mayb also put in an allegation? i dunno, police are gay. Quote
scoot Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 gutted, sorry to hear about that. yea our legal system sucks. celebs get off very easilly these days as well. which is fucked up Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Don't knock our legal system. There is a reason all other countries base it on our structure, and use our cases as justification in their cases. You shouldn't have dropped the charges. Get arrested, he wouldnt have had a leg to stand on, and you wouldnt even have been cautioned. Quote
Thom Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 he wouldnt have had a leg to stand on. Matt's actually going to jail for doing that, think yourself lucky we don't have the Canadian legal system. Quote
CS Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) Your an idiot, Canadian legal system is based on British system, its basicly a new and improved system. Edited October 31, 2006 by Cradle_Shock Quote
Nemo Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 canada isnt even a country. wtf are you doing with your own legal system? Quote
Matt Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 well, i asked for advice and was told that because i actually laid a hand on him then it would end up going to court. he was still interviewed for impersonating a police officer, but get this, its not actually an offence aparantly, unless your wearing/using an item of police clothing or show a fake warrant card etc, so all he'll get for that is a warning. oh and i didnt mention that the reason i chose to drop the charges is cause i want to be a copper, and could do without an arrest for assault to explain... Aero Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 thats shit. on a side note matt, i saw the quo last tuesday nite. Quote
