Thom Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 (edited) Ah fuck it... "any nobody can make a dance song in their bedroom with a computer" true, and it would be shit. In the same way that if some 16 year old goth writes poems and tries to play his guitar over them, it would sound like the sonic recreation of the inside of my ass. Not that you'd enjoy them, but check out dance artists like Squarepusher and Aphex Twin. There's a lot more to making dance music that sitting on a desktop PC with a copy of Fruity Loops. Have you ever seen a turntablist play live? Doubt it. Look on YouTube for a video of DJ plus One playing at the DMC championships. Look at how much he's working that mixing station, and then try telling me that it requires any less skill than rocking out a few chords on a guitar. This said, I also realise that there are a lot of bands who are technically astounding on traditional instruments, I'm not trying to take anything away from them. Every genre plays host to true genius's, the same way that they play host to complete talentless idiots. "most of the songs all revolve around the same thing, shooting people and fat black asses." I don't even need to say anything about this, because it makes you sound ignorant as it is. But just for idiots like scoot who are too stupid to realise, not all Hip Hop revolves around shooting adversaries or pimping some ass. Real Hip Hop covers probably the most diverse range of topics out of any music genre. Once again, if you actually listened to actual Hip Hop artists such as Saul Williams or The Roots (Just a couple of examples), rather than what you hear on Need for Speed Underground, you might just realise this. But I don't expect you to do that. Edited October 30, 2006 by Thom Quote

I'm not a fan of hiphop so the only hiphop I've heard is the mainstream stuff on tv, I'm sure there's more meaningfull songs out there, just like with rock music and rock tv being plagued by greenday. Legendeath Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Too be honest, I really admire everyones attempt at making music it means their actually trying. It's usually their cause, effects or their majority of fan's actions, which is makes me dislike a genre. An example would be My Chemical Romance or most emo bands, most every person that listens to it and likes it starts to grow into it and eventually prejudge a song by the first 5 seconds, my friend was into it but when he got out of eventually realized that what he thought was bad earlier realized was pretty decent. As for Rap I believe that I don't think it's horrible I don't belive it's all about two topics, But I do believe it's more the effects it does to people that make me dislike it. Not trying to be racist but honestly I believe that majority white people (I live near Baltimore remember) start listen to it, then start wearing shirts and start acting like their rappers and end up looking like ridiculous wiggers, not realizing that they don't pull of the Rap look or the Eminem look. The Don Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 but most of the songs all revolve around the same thing, shooting people and fat black asses. listens to Gang Bangin 101 by Snoop Dogg & The Game Quote
Nemo Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 i think people with pink spikey mohawks, dog collars, 1000s of piercings, wearing clothes from hot topic are far worse than white kids wearing sweat suits and silver chains. give the wiggers some credit. at least theyre trying to imitate other human beings rather than movie monsters. also, shooting niggaz is no worse than stabbing someone and eating the remains. rap isnt the only music that promotes violence, its just the genre that does it in the least-disgusting way. Big Bizang Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Congratulations on your posts there Thom. I never used to be a hip hop fan until I discovered Dizzee Rascal and Phi Life Cypher. They changed me. I still hate the mainstream end of hip hop but I think I hate the mainstream end of all music. Seems to be that the further you go into obscurity the better or more original the music is going to be. I saw Frank Turner last night (the fella on the right in my sig) and we was fucking incredible. He was the singer from Million Dead but after they broke up he's been doing acoustic folky stuff. Not my cup of tea usually but his songwriting style and the pure, simple honesty of his lyrics made it amazing. He's a really nice guy too, met him. I suppose my point is that you can't judge until you've seen what most fans of a particular genre consider the most original/best. That and check out Frank Turner. Quote
Big Bizang Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Oh that's because you're crap. Sometimes people who are just crap don't like him. It happens sometimes. Quote
Nemo Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 ah right, i forgot about immortal technique and the horror-core rap subgenre. whatever. how about the majority of rap songs arent disgusting? that work? Quote

Real Hip Hop covers probably the most diverse range of topics out of any music genre i realise that, i actually admire certain artisits, the ones who are for instance anti racist. like jonny because im not a hiphop fan imnot gonna go out and critizise it ALL, (although it seemed that way at first). basiclly i hate the likes that chavs listen to, because its what they revolve round. in my oppinion, IF getting rid of hiphop would solve the chav infestation problem id be all for it. im not saying it would but it seems to be a major contributing factor in my genral community Quote
Nemo Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 oh please. if they stopped being chavs, theyd just buy into another trend to make you miserable. its a losing battle. Quote

Thom Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 ah right, i forgot about immortal technique and the horror-core rap subgenre. whatever. how about the majority of rap songs arent disgusting? that work? Nah I wasn't trying to be an ass, I was being post-ironic. And if you like Dizzee, you should check out some other UKHH acts. As great as Dizzee is, he's far from the best. You might wanna try out Jehst and Kano (His album is awesome), or for a female version of Dizzee; Shystie. Her best song - Bitches Better Recognise - is on her Myspace page. Chav's lack social skills because of a poor upbringing, not because they listen to Hip Hop. They're no more anti-social than punks before them, and their music choices couldn't be any more different. I listen to what people could consider "Chav" music, but it doesn't make me one. Also, while at various big clubs and at Creamfields, I found some chavs to be some of the friendliest people I've ever met. If you get them off the street and onto some Class A's then they're fine. By comparison, have you ever been to an Emo/Metal show? The people there are the biggest, most arrogant pricks you're likely to come across in any music genre. And Devo is an actor. Quote

Jonny Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 That is complete stereotyping, all metal genres are not like that. Only the newer ones are. Quote

If it wasn't for myspace and you being able to photoshop extremely well; to completely alter your face into something actually possible for a human female to withstand looking at - you'd still be wanking over a trish and lita match in smackdown! 2 wit the see-thru panties hack on.
