As far as porn goes, the studio has become the focal point, which has the same caveats as the regular film industry: the actors become expendable. Brazzers is a bigger name than anyone who films for them, which is the case for every major site out there. You can still follow a porn star's work, but they can be cast out and forgotten easily just as easily as Marvel Studios can decide to stop throwing money at Robert Downey Jr. and cast someone else to have a goatee and utter all 5 of his lines in any Avengers film. The best case is Sasha Grey, who in her prime, decided she was an artist and not porn star. The industry let her go, and apparently sucking 60 cocks in one session is all you need to have on your résumé to land a role in a film with Elijah Wood. I think Elijah had to suck more cocks to be in that movie than Sasha did.
