The Don Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 So when I can't get to bed, it's either a gaming marathon or video night, and I'm opting for videos lately. I just got done watching Waist Deep, and in the movie Tyrese drives into the ocean durrounded by cops whil his son and Megan Good make it to Mexico. Common sense would say he either died or got locked up, but no, the last scene of the movie is him running up to them in Mexico and they all live happily ever after. Another major offender is the movie Click. I know it's an Adam Sandler movie, but he should have stayed dead, that's all I'm going to say because I'm sure some people haven't seen it yet. I was readng on IMDB and they said they had that ending because him dying didn't go over too well with test audiences. My question is, whatever happened to the star dying in the movies? Scarface is arguebly one of the best movies of all time, how does it end? Tony Montana dies and it's one of the most famous scenes ever. Are audiences becoming pansies or what? Quote
crunk Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 The worst type are those chick flicks my ex used to make me watch, where a young girl overcomes all of her obstacles and problems in life through the power of dance. It's enough to make any man consider suicide. Quote
CS Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I noticed that too, the only movies where there isn't happy endings is like the horror ones like saw, devils rejects and a few others. Sandler should've stayed dead in Click. The main movie that really pissed me off that ended with a happy ending was War of the Worlds. That movies ending was totally retarded, there was no way in hell that the son didn't die after he just ran over the side of the hill and then it like exploted and then somehow he's like at his parents home at the end. There was no way he made it there that was bullshit. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 My question is, whatever happened to the star dying in the movies? Scarface is arguebly one of the best movies of all time, how does it end? Tony Montana dies and it's one of the most famous scenes ever. Are audiences becoming pansies or what? Irony strikes. Because now we have a video game stating that Tony Montana never died. Gotta love today's society, eh? I don't believe today's society is becoming pansies. Quite the opposite. I believe we have two specific audiences. If you want to see death, go see Saw. Better yet, go see Silent Hill. A confusing movie that has an entire plot surrounding death. What I'm trying to say is, there are many audiences in today's society. I'm sorry, but if you are wanting to see someone die, Click is not the movie for you. It was circled around morals and happy endings and that's exactly what happened. A beautiful story was told and it was meant to make you think. Now movies like Silent Hill are quite fucked up and death seems to be a reoccuring theme throughout the movie. So HB recommends Silent Hill to satisfy all your deadly needs. I'm sorry that Click and Waist Deep was not enough to satisfy you. Quote
samountain Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I just love the fact that you went into Click thinking "I'm going to be severely dissapointed if Adam Sandler doesn't die!" You do realise Click is a feel-good comedy, right? You compared Scarface and Click... Anyway, for my suggestion of violence: The Hills Have Eyes Remake (damn good, I thought) The Descent (damn good, I thought - great ending too, one of them anyway, since there's 2 endings and I've only seen one) 25th Hour (Damn good, I thought - Edward Norton does a great job on this. It's about a guy who's about to go to jail and it's his last 25 hours of freedom, and he reflects. Simple storyline, well told) Anyway, yeah, HB is right. Good work HB! Quote
CS Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I was thinking about Silent Hill yesterday and its probaly one of the weirdest most fucked up new movies I've seen in a while, a little girl gets like turtored my hanging over a caultron of ambers, a gril gets her skin ripped off, another woman gets hung over a thing of ambers and a ton of other things, like the movies just fucked, I've got to admit though the giant demon guy wth the sword is awesome. I found "the hills ahve eyes" remake a little boring, I havent seen it yet but I heard taht" ringu" was good, way better than "the ring". Quote
The Don Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 I just love the fact that you went into Click thinking "I'm going to be severely dissapointed if Adam Sandler doesn't die!" You do realise Click is a feel-good comedy, right? I didn't go into click wanting to see him DIe, but I think that would have been a better ending. And I think you guys are missing my point. What I'm saying is why si it that now away the lead characters don't die? I mean c'mon, are we to beleive that Tyrese made it from Long Beach, CA to Mexico? Swimming? With all those cops that were on his ass? Quote
Big Bizang Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I'd like to see Sandler die... I agree with Cradle, War of the Worlds was not only a shit film (completely wiping it's arse on one of th best sci fi books ever written) but had a horrible feel-good end. The son totally should've bought it. I see what you're saying Don, we should be able to make up our own minds about death and so on in films but some films just need the happy endings. According to the censors. While I'm ranting, jesus Garden State was shit! Quote
Fozy Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Anyone seen The Departed? It's like the best movie I've seen for fucking years. The ending is crazy too. Quote
crunk Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 The Butterfly Effect = Great Movie, Great Ending. Quote
Aero Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 true, but there are so only so many times you can watch the butterfly effect, it now seems a bit crap to me so will wait a year before i watch it again, i blame sky movies for ruining sooo many good shows by repeating them all the time Quote
crunk Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Butterfly effect has 3 alternative endings as well :)2 Quote
CS Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Anyone seen The Departed? It's like the best movie I've seen for fucking years. The ending is crazy too. That movie was wicked, it was halarious how everyone was lieing to everyone and how much backstabing there was in that movie, the ending just went off the deep end with what happens but hte final scene was great. Mark Walburg fucking rules. Quote
Jobber Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Anyone seen The Departed? It's like the best movie I've seen for fucking years. The ending is crazy too. Yeah that movie was amazing. It definantly had the most awesome ending to a movie, possibly ever. Quote
crunk Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 How mad was the ending? Everyone gets fuckkeddd up. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 That's another reason that I hate the Stallone remake of Get Carter, where Carter survives by killing the assassin. Ridiculous. Quote
