^starting with the right one MAJORLY changes it...the base sample created superstars have different figures, different face structures, etc. Using the right one does matter, as it has the correct face type to start with, plus starts the figures at a certain point, which sometimes does change things. I can post some in-game shots to prove you wrong if needed...everyone who actually FOLLOWED the formula correctly has come back saying they love it and that teh figures look great in game (including other known caw makers). If you refuse to follow the formula the way it's written, don't complain when you think it's off...it isn't off when you actually follow the formula.

^ it's not sample faces, it's sample superstars...instead of choosing NEW in Create a Superstar, choose the Sample Superstars, then start with #4.
