Heart Breaker Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 Info Post Published by: THQ Developed by: Yuke's Media Creations Genre: Wrestling Number of Players: 1-6 Recommended Requirements: Broadband support for online play. Features: Dual Shock, Memory Card, Online, Stereo Surround & More To Be Announced Official Release Date U.S. Release Date: November 15, 2005 U.K. Release Date: November 2005 Boxart PAL Boxart We are back! We have our first peak of information regarding SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006. This post will bring you so much information regarding the new game. By the time this post is over, you'll be psyched about the upcoming game. We have so much information right now, but we are going to keep editing this post up until the SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 game is released. Please stay tuned for multible updates all the way up until November 2005. We have heard from the creators of SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 that this year they want to go all out. They want to improve the game in every aspect and they feel that this wrestling game will be the one people will be talking about for a long time. This will be the game that will set the standard for what a wrestling game should be. Get ready for SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006. Roster The roster is what makes a game playable. People love huge rosters. It brings more replay value. This roster is a complete list of superstars that any gamer would love. We also get Muhammad Hassan, Heidenreich, Eugene, as well as other anticipated superstars. Confirmed Roster SmackDown! Batista Booker T Charlie Haas Chris Benoit Christian Christy Hemme Doug Basham Eddie Guerrero Heidenreich JBL Joy Giovanni Khosrow Daivari Michelle McCool Muhammad Hassan Orlando Jordan Paul London Randy Orton Rey Mysterio Scotty 2 Hotty Spike Dudley Stacy Keibler Steven Richards Sylvain Grenier The Undertaker William Regal RAW Big Show Carlito Chavo Guerrero Chris Jericho Chris Masters Danny Basham Edge Eugene The Hurricane John Cena Kane Kurt Angle Lita Mark Jindrak Rene Dupree Ric Flair Rob Conway Rob Van Dam Shawn Michaels Shelton Benjamin Snitsky Tajiri Torrie Wilson Trish Stratus Triple H SmackDown! vs. RAW will also include a complete list of Legends. There is a total of 12 legends in all. Hulk Hogan, British Bulldog, Jimmy Hart, Junkyard Dog, and Steve Austin are included this year. Also, some legends from past SmackDown! games are back as well. Andre The Giant, Bret Hart, Mankind, The Rock, and Ted DiBiase all make their return. Also, a special PSP legend is included this year. The exclusive PSP legend is Jake Roberts. It's definately an exciting year for the legends roster. Legends Andre The Giant Bret Hart British Bulldog Hogan 80's Hollywood Hogan Hulk Hogan Jimmy Hart Junkyard Dog Mankind The Rock Steve Austin Ted DiBiase Online Play Online play was probably the most anticipated feature last year. We got a sneak peak with last years title on how it would work. But there was much needed improvements. Online play consists of four players now. We have also learned that you are able to defend your belt online now. The more you defend it, the more prestige your title gets. In addition to all those details, we also have monthy and career leader boards with a permanent ID system to track all your stats. This is one thing fans have wanted for so long, and now you have it! Season Have you ever wanted more than one season? Now you've got it. We finally get two full seasons to play. Without repetition! Last year we hoped to get Superstar specific storylines, and this year we've got them! We also have voice-overs again this year. I know what you're thinking. "They limit season." But this year THQ has said they learned from their mistakes. In addition to voice-overs, we also get a VO for your own character. This should be a great addition to the season. We'll learn more about the season as time goes by. Keep checking back for updates. Graphic Improvements This year THQ have redone 40-50% of the animations in the game. The realism for this game is truely unbelievable. Even all the characters are completely life-like. When you look at Kane, you are looking into the eyes of the big red machine himself. THQ meticulously scanned the faces of each of the WWE superstars and divas so that they are as accurate to their real life counterparts as possible. I've never seen such facial detail before. The other impressive thing about the upcoming game is the skin tones. Skin tones are much more realistic looking this time around. We do not get the same type of skin color for a bunch of wrestlers. All of the wrestlers have their specific skin tone and hair texture. When you look at the screenshots, you can completely see the difference. Looking at someone like Rey Mysterio or Batista truely makes you believe this is going to be the biggest graphical improvement in the SmackDown! franchise. Remember the entrances? They are all now motion captured. When you see Triple H walking down the arena, you're truely seeing Triple H walk down to the arena. They are also not limited to one minute entrances anymore. They are truely the length of the wrestlers. If it takes them three minutes to enter the ring, then that's how long it'll take. It's much more realistic in that aspect. Also, when you are walking to the ring, you'll now see Tony Chimmel or Lillian Garcia announcing in the ring as you make your way into the squared circle. You'll also see your opponent or partner if you come out second. This is a huge step into the realistic direction. Create-An-Entrance We have been waiting for this feature for quite awhile. We've always wanted to create our own unique entrance for our grapplers. Now we're finally able to. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to make a specific entrance for my wrestler. What will be in this feature? Specific pyro? Custom animations? We'll learn more as we get it. Right now, all we have is the information that there will be a Create-An-Entrance feature. Momentum The momentum feature ties in the dirty/clean meter with the adrenaline meter that builds up your special. The momentum meter will bring a life-like approach to the game. It basically means, if you started the match great, it doesn't mean you're going to win. You have alot more strategic elements to do to bring a life-like feature to this game. If you have a special, you probably want to use it when your momentum is at it's peak. But if you choose to use it when your momentum is low, the finisher won't have that much of an effect. It really brings a lot of realism when it comes to playing the game. Stamina/Hardcore We have two new attributes added to the superstars final rating now. Stamina and Hardcore. Hardcore is very simple, the higher hardcore rating you have, the more powerful your chair shots are. If you have a poor hardcore rating, then when you use a chair or sledge hammer, it will not effect you as much as someone with a higher hardcore rating. The way the Stamina attribute works is simple. The longer the match goes, the more you'll need stamina. If the match lasts a long time, and you are fighting with a superstar with poor stamina, you'll get tired more easily. But if you're playing with someone such as Rey Mysterio with a high stamina rating, then you'll be able to last quite a long time. More strategy has been put into SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 where the match is more strategic, than just a way to beat your opponent fast. When your stamina gets low, you can easily refill it while your opponent is down by holding the "Select" button. Buried Alive We have a brand new match type. I'm sure all of you are familiar with it. Yes, We now have the Buried Alive match! It will be a completely interactive part of the arena where you fight to put your opponent into a casket and bury the opponent to finish the match. There will be two meters included in this match. One will be getting your opponent into the casket. It's basically a submission meter but with a different look. The other will be closing the casket shut. There is one last chance to make it out alive. If you press R2 and L2 fast enough, you will not be buried. But if your opponent toggles the right analog stick up and down quick enough, the casket will shut and a cutscene will appear with the winner burying the loser. This will definately be a much more exciting match type than the previous year. Undertaker fans will be thrilled with this new match type. Bar Room Brawl This year there's not just one brand new match type, but two. Introducing the, somewhat secretive, Bar Room Brawl. From the lack of information about this match type, we can safely say it is exactly what it sounds like; from pool tables, with cues might I add, to bartenders and bar staff! From what you can see in the gameplay videos, you can pretty much pull of an APA, throwing them over the bar, hitting them with pool cues, jukeboxes, etc. and also have the bar staff join in on the crazy beating your giving your opponent. From what we can see, this game looks incredibly enjoyable to destroy your opponent in APA style. Fulfill Your Fantasy There's a new match type that is going to replace the Bra and Panties match. It's called Fulfill Your Fantasy. It has to do with divas. In this match type, you can play with the divas as School Girls, Nurses, or French Maids. This match type will have red satin surrounding the whole ring floor complete with a super bouncy bed, that the girls can jump up and down on, and purple comfort chairs with big fluffy pillows. The match starts with a pillow fight. The whole purpose of this is to add reaction points to your overall victory. But you'll still be able to rip off the women's clothing. So everyone who loves the divas should come out happy with this match. According to Jeremy at IGN, "It's surprisingly enjoyable." Improved Match Types In addition to having a few new match types, we have learned that our current match types will work much better. Did anyone get annoyed at the fact that the Cage match was unrealistic? Well those errors have been fixed, along with much more. You are now able to exit outside of the door and and over the cage inside the steel. There will also be a bonus cage match called "Legend Cage." Expect that to be the classic blue bar steel cage that you all loved back in the 80's. Did anyone hate not being able to grapple more than one move on top of the ladder during a ladder match? That is now fixed. You are able to do a set of grapples from on top of the ladder. Did anyone hate when your opponent would climb the top of the ladder so fast while you were down? Well now, when you are climbing the ladder during a ladder match, you crawl more slowly now instead of suddenly appearing at the top. Also, there will be atleast two ladders during the match. So the people who have been praying for more ladders now get them. Create-A-Belt Last year we got a sneak peak at what a feature that so many people wanted would look like. Well THQ have listened to us and now the Create-A-Belt is improved much more. Title belt defenses and title belt creation have also been expanded upon. Players can now create Tag Team straps in addition to singles titles and defend any of them in normal Title Match exhibition bouts. You'll be able to fight against other players in title-for-title matches, as well. Or, go ahead and try winning any of the preexisting belts made available. All modern belts are represented here. The WWE, World Heavyweight, WWE Tag, World Tag, Intercontinental, U.S, Cruiserweight, Women's, Hardcore, and a special surprise belt are yours for the taking right from the beginning of the game. Super Irish Whip Things went wrong with certain aspects of the game, such as not being able to throw your opponent into a cage during a cage match. That has all changed with the new feature that THQ has added. We will now have a new Irish Whip. To do a regualar Irish Whip you have to run and press Circle. But to super irish whip, you have to hold the Triangle and Circle while standing still. It will allow you to smash your opponent's head into the cage and possibly cause him to bleed. It will be a great new feature as many people (including me) have complained about the fact that you couldn't throw your opponent into the cage. Expect the Super Irish Whip to come in handy in other aspects of the game as well. More Realistic Blood I can't count the times I've heard people complain about the blood. They love seeing their opponent bleed, but so many people wanted realistic blood. They wanted to see it pour down their opponents body. Well, you're in luck! It seems the blood looks more realistic than ever now. It goes from their head down to their chest. It will make beating your opponent a little bit more enjoyable. (For you blood thirsty fans out there.) In addition to all that, we have levels of blood! Yes, three different levels of blood so you won't have to look at the same design each time. Also, another great addition to the blood is that it also smears all over the canvas now. It's a great touch to an already great game. Arenas and Backstage Areas A long hall way? I think a lot of people got sick of that quickly. Well THQ have confirmed that we will now get much more than one hall way. They have listened to the people and the people demanded more backstage areas. I cannot begin to describe how happy I am to hear that. I loved fighting all over the arena with many backstage areas to choose from, but you couldn't do that with one long hall way. This will definately bring some smiles to fans of the popular SmackDown! series. The backstage areas that will be included is the WWE backstage area, Bar Room Brawl, and many more to come. In addition to that, here's the list of confirmed arenas scheduled to appear in SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006. Confirmed Arenas SmackDown! RAW Velocity HEAT SummerSlam Unforgiven No Mercy Survivor Series Armageddon Royal Rumble No Way Out WrestleMania 21 Backlash Judgment Day Vengeance The Great American Bash New Year's Revolution ECW One Night Stand Taboo Tuesday Caesar's Palace (WrestleMania IX) Sleeper Hold System We have it confirmed that we'll have a new sleeper hold system. How does it work? I'm here to explain it quickly and easily for you. When your opponent's head is injured enough, you have the option to perform the new sleeper hold. When you are put into a sleeper hold. The referee will check your arm. He'll hold it up. Immediately, a meter will show up. It ties directly with your arm. When your arm falls. So does a cursor on the meter. If you stop the cursor at the correct moment, you will escape, and you'll be able to continue the match. If your arm drops all three times though, you immediately lose the match. But, if you somehow get your arm to come up the third time, you'll get an extra momentum boost. It adds a very realistic touch. But be careful. If you don't get it the third time, you lose by KO. So it's all about strategy with this new sleeper hold system. Playing Possum When you are playing the game, playing possum is now an option. Here's how this new feature works. When you build your momentum bar all the way, you have two options. You can either peform a finisher or store the finisher for later on. If you store the finisher, it opens up a new option for gamers. You are able to do a quick pin when your opponent thinks your down and out. It's very simple to perform. When your opponent hits you and your lying down on the mat, hold circle. Then, counter your opponents strike or grapple. If you do it perfectly, you'll perform the "Possum Pin". The possum pin is a different kind of pin though. It's much harder to get out of. So if you are very injured, you do not have a great chance of getting out of the pin. So beware of this new feature. If you are not careful, you could instantly lose the match to your opponent. But you can also use this new feature to your advantage as well. Pre-Match Mini Games Last year we got pre-match mini games. Such as the test of strength, stare down, etc. Now at the start of the match you can choose which mini game you want to do. It all ties in with your right analog stick. You flick it either left, right, up, or down. You can also choose to not have a match mini game. It's all up to you this year. The interesting thing, though, is there's a new pre-match mini game. It's called the "Lock-Up". It's basically a different kind of test of strength in a way. When both of the players lock up, two meters will show up. One for each wrestler with an icon moving back and forth. The player who manages to stop the meter at the highest point, will win the lock-up battle and gains an early advantage in the match. Chain Wrestling Have you ever wanted to reverse a reversal? Now it's finally possible. Yes, when you're opponent is smart enough to actually counter your manuever, you can reverse his reversal. But be warned, they can reverse your reversal as well. What does all this mean? We now have chain wrestling where reversals happen up to three times. This will create a more realistic flow to the match. Matrix The feature that we all loved from Shut Your Mouth is back. We now have the option to add in the "Matrix" effect. If you feel the need to slow down the replay to your finisher while your doing it, just simply hold down the L1 and L2 buttons. It's a great new camera angle that showcases your finisher. Post-match Celebrations In addition to the matrix, we also have the return of post-match celebrations. Alot of people requested the return of celebrations after your match. It didn't feel the same just hearing your music. You wanted your hand to be raised and you wanted to see you taunt your opponent. Well it's back once again. Also, some superstars have their own special taunts at the end of the match which should make a victory that much better. Closing Comments This year, the updates have been tremendous. And I thank all of you for posting here at Smacktalks. Without you, this wouldn't have been possible. It's been a great year for wrestling gaming fans. We got a lot of things added this year that we've always wanted and I'm sure everyone is going to come out happy when this game is released. Thanks for keeping up with the info post.
