What's your setup?

 

I was thinking of mucking around and getting something going with Chromecast and Plex, but I've heard mixed things about the quality of the feed and the painfulness of using Plex.

 

Obvious alternative is to just plug a hard drive into the TV, but that seems a bit boring.

I have a slim Samsung HDD...I plug that into my Samsung TV, the menu navigation is relatively easy. Great codec support in Samsung TVs too. So Samsung have a monopoly on my setup. I just like it because I don't have to bother having PCs on, or turning on more devices and bother with remotes and shit. The TV also supports media sharing from the router, PC, PS3 etc so there's really no need for Chromecast or Apple TV.
