Right now I'm just trying to get everything working before I knock that out. In Zbrush, I upped the subdivision to about 6 or 7 then created a mask on the part of the hair I didn't want edited and then used S polish brush (make sure to set the brush to be symmetrical in the transform menu) to reduce the hair behind the head object.
