[Howto] Use mods on all PS3's

KaKaRoToKS released a nice Christmas gift for PS3 users, mainly for users on a unhacked retail System with original Firmware (OFW).

It's a Program (ps3xport) that allows to edit the content of a PS3 Hard drive backup

With this tool it becomes possible to install mods on unhacked Systems.

Howto use this:

1. Create a PS3 HDD backup with the Backup Utility, follow Sony's guide https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/798/~/ps3-backup-utility you need a big usb hdd for this to speed things up and i would suggest to delete everything from your ps3 that you don't need or that you can easily reinstall

2. Download the latest Pexploit http://xxxthedartkprogramerxxx.net/ and extract it.

You need to know your Console ID, this ID is unique for every PS3. Here is a Video that shows how to get your Console ID

You find the app to "steal" your own ID inside of the pexploit folder.

Never share this ID with anyone!

3. If you have your Console Id copy the idps.bin file that contains your ID into your Pexploit folder, I created 2 custom test DLC Folders, one for 2k14 and one for 2k15. Download one for the game of your choice.

2k14 https://www.sendspace.com/file/qjxxey

2k15 https://www.sendspace.com/file/n6bx7z

4. These DLC Folders are for the US Version of the Game, if you have a EU Version rename the folder for wwe2k14 from BLUS31277 to BLES01937 and for wwe2k15 from BLUS31464 to BLES02072

5. Now start PeXploit and follow this Video Tutorial https://vid.me/meQy In this Video the Game "plants vs zombies" get installed, you select BLUS31277/BLES01937 for wwe2k14 or BLUS31464/BLES02072 for wwe2k15, at the end he selects a .edat file in this video, skip this too. Select DLC as Catagory.

6. Now restore this modded PS3 HDD Backup to your PS3.

7. You find a special version of the "Save Game Tools" inside of the test DLC Folder, create a unlocked save with these like i described here

8. Restore the save to your PS3 and start the Game, you should now be able to select the added Wrestlers with the AJ Lee Menu Glitch

Goto Divas select AJ Lee and then move up, the added Dlc should appear (they will have no render and some strange names) Select one and try to play with him, if you have a forever spinning wwe logo try to Rebuild the Database of your PS3 https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1488/kw/hard%20disk%20error

Short Tutorial for people on CFW/Jailbreak PS3

Of course this works on a hacked PS3 too, simply transfer the catalog003 folder to your game folder, start the game and while you are ingame transfer the SAVE.DAT file from the "Save only for CFW Jailbreak Users" folder in the /dev_hdd1 folder of your PS3, then reload the save in the options menu. Select the DLC with the AJ Lee Menu Glitch.

This test DLC Folder contains the following Wrestlers with different Attires: AX, SMASH, HAWK, ANIMAL, KEN PATERA, ZEUS. They are created by Red Rooster and Bugsyboy, Don't forget to give a feedback in there modding threads. No official DLC is replaced!

You can't have a ps3 hard drive game backup without modding the ps3

He's not talking about putting a game on the HD and running it from there. Basically when you backup your PS3 HD for restoring purposes, this tool allows you to edit stuff from that backup. So the DLC which is stored on the HD not the disc is able to be played with. Limited, but mods on a retail PS3 is an incredible find.

Trust you to find it now I have a PS4 lol!

No, I still have it but I don't have the space to have both plugged in. Time for the future for me. Use whatever I get from my PS3 setup on trade in to get new stuff for my PS4.

Noob question...what we can do with this tool?

mod the game is the only way to have fun with last gen. Couldn't afford current gen atm.

for 2k15 and 2k14, can we add new single attire for Ambrose and Rollins? Can we add character on the game?

You can only mod dlc content, for example you can replace wcw wrestler lex luger with Rollins. When you select luger ingame, rollins would appear (with his new single attire). Maybe it is also possible to add more attires to non dlc wrestlers but this needs alot testing, adding characters could be possible too.

My PS3 is hacked and i don't have a 2nd unhacked PS3 so i can't test much. But you could try it, first you need to dump your Console ID http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=80507

could work we need someone brave to test :)

If you start the game for the first time from the blue ray, it gets installed to the hdd. If you later start the game it only checks the blue ray disc and then it loads everything from hdd, so i think there is no difference between both versions.

For some reason it doesn't allow us to mod the files in this install folder, we never found out why, but undertakerwlf found a way to trick the game to load modded files from the blue ray (we have a folder called "GAMES" with our ripped games). Since this worked we never tried to find out why we can't mod files in the install folder.

It's so intresting..

I will stay with 2k14 this year.

I wonder...if this can mod the official dlc, I have a plan to replace some 2k14 DLC characters with some new faces from 2k15

for example Nash and Hall (outsiders) replace with Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper from 2k15

If the mod character will have render and correct name, let me be the one who try

i don't know if it will work on 2k14, but i will send you some files to test in the next days.

In the meantime try to dump your console ID http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=80507

And create a PS3 HDD Backup, it works better if the Backup file is small, so delete everything from your ps3 hdd, that can be reinstalled or redownloaded.

This is exciting.  Thanks for the heads up, Kim.  Got my console ID dumped.   :)

The link to the gui is dead for me, so here's another one:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/oyszw9uv09393lf/Aps3xportGUI_v0.2.rar

Found here:

http://www.ps3hax.net/2015/01/pexploit-beta-by-darkprogramer/

EDIT:  So the more I read into this and look at the gui, it looks like this will entail removing the PS3 hdd and connecting it to the PC, is that right?

Hi Dave :)

You don't need to remove your hdd, you create a PS3 hdd backup https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/798/~/ps3-backup-utility

delete unused stuff from your PS3 before you create this backup, the creation process is faster and it seems the tool works better with a slim backup.
