Discuss The Flash TV series here.

I thought the pilot was pretty cool, didn't know much about Flash from comics/animated series, so pretty new to me. Ollie and Barry meeting was pretty cool. Edited by jeb2830

It's Barry not Barren btw, almost sounds like this weeks episode of Gotham with everyone calling the Wayne's the Wayan's..Was waiting for Keenen, Marlon and Damon to pop up XD

Lmao I combined Barry Allen into one name :p:lol

Well then open mouth insert foot on my end xD.. It is nice touch that John Wesley Shipp who played The Flash in the 90's tv series is Barry's dad :p

I remember watching the leaked version 3 months ago :lol

Here's what I thought about it, I wrote this on Caws after I watched it.

Okay, after thinking about the episode a lot I've decided to share my thoughts on it.

WARNING: The content inside the spoiler tabs spoils the pilot episode of The Flash, if you're going to watch it when it airs. Don't read.

Overall, I really liked the episode. Hopefully there aren't too many flashbacks like Arrow, I've started watching Arrow from the start again before it starts in October. Just like in Arrow, the flashbacks are a nice touch if they have major relevance in the current episode. But they can get boring after a while which puts a downer on the episode.

I like the duo of Cisco and Caitlin, quite funny. Also, I can't wait to see

Robbie Amell play the role of Caitlin's allegedly dead fiancé Ronnie Raymond (Firestorm), hopefully in the 2 hour crossover episode they have a mini little scene and Robbie and Stephen have a little awkward chat.

I could tell when Iris and Eddie met up, they were gonna kiss. Predictable but it spices things up a bit, I'll come on to that later. Also, Iris is super super hot.

I liked the scene between Barry and Oliver, the end part when they both say cool was hilarious. The writers seem to nail the comedy in both shows.

At the end there was the little part about a merger between WayneTech and Queen Consolidated being completed, I doubt that Batman/Bruce Wayne will make an appearance but I hope he does. Maybe in the ever last episode of Arrow they can have a brief meeting between the two.

Now onto the main part which I said I'd come back to, the ending. Initially I had no clue what it meant, Harrison Wells walking and accessing the future newspaper which read something like "The Flash vanishes in crisis" confused the hell out of me. But after a major research session, I read that in the comics Eobard (Shortened to Eddie) Thawne is a fan of The Flash living in the 25th century. He idolizes him so much that he wants to meet him, so he gets surgery to look like Barry and gets his powers (By doing the exact same thing that happened to Barry) and goes back in time with the Cosmic Treadmill. However the Cosmic Treadmill broke down over the years so it took him to several years after the death of Barry, this lead to Thawne going mentally unstable. After going to the Flash mueseum, he discovers that he's destined to become "The Reverse Flash" and he's meant to die at the hands of his idol. Etc and shit, him and Barry become rivals. Flash eventually defeats him and sends him back to his time.

Most people online are saying that Thawne is going to become Flash's arch rival, but there's another theory. Apparently, Harrison Wells is the future Eobard Thawne and he went back in time. He named himself Harrison Wells after the famous time traveller H.G. Wells. The reason he's helping Barry so much is because if Barry doesn't become Flash, Thawne/Wells doesn't become the Reverse Flash and he has no relevance. Also when Harrison says "Run Barry run", he knows that it'll motivate him because his dad (or mum, I can't remember right now. I think it was his dad though) said it to him as a child when "The Man" was killing his mum. He knew that line... Because he was the man that killed his mum, again to possibly motivate Barry into later on becoming The Flash.

Mind-blowing right?

Honestly, it's kinda lacking when watched immediately following Arrow. I can't quite put my fingers in it but it just isn't as good as Arrow. Maybe after another week or two it will have grown on me, but right now I'm not sure how long I'll continue watching. Maybe through the season to see some resolution for his dad.

True it wasn't the best opener of a show but Arrow started same way, it really hit it's stride middle of Season 1 and took off in Season 2.  Was a funny lil' exchange when Barry met up with Oliver for advice each other being in awe of each other's coolness lol

Was a solid episode, not expected to be great it's only a pilot. I personally liked it, but I do agree. Hopefully it gets better, I wasn't sure about Arrow at first but I love it now :)

Problem with Flash is it seems to be too comic booky. Arrow I can suspend disbelief for a bit more, if it continues down the supernatural road I'm gonna be kinda let down to be honest. Assassins, earthquake machines, Illuminati type shit and masked vigilantes? Game on. Dude who can seemingly summon storms? Hmmmm...

Yeah I definitely agree with that, I love Arrow because it isn't supernatural (Excluding the Mirakuru, I was disappointed when that happened. But now I think about it, it's just a drug that gives you super strength) and it seems realistic.

Yeah that does make Arrow good is keeping it as realistic as possible while being based off a comic book where everything & anything is far fetched..  Hope it doesn't stay that route cause it definitely won't make it to a Season 2. *crosses fingers*

This will be the big question, are audiences ready for more comic booky affair weekly on TV? Agents of SHIELD is already well down that path, and continued it at the start of season 2 kicking off with a big Absorbing Man two parter, and then bringing Blizzard (not yet named in the show) back for episode 3. That is a team of normal SHIELD agents though, is a show centered on a guy who can running really fast with super powered bad guys a bridge too far?

I think it will be. Besides with Agents of SHIELD, Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, Daredevil and a bunch of other Marvel properties around the corner, I think the market is overly saturated and we'll start seeing some audiences die off really quickly.

Arrow is still the best of the bunch, although Agents of SHIELD has had a great start to the season continuing the momentum of the great end of last season eps. Pity that show was awful until the Captain America 2 HYDRA plot.

I still haven't watched Agents of SHIELD, kinda doubt I will. Truth be told, I wouldn't have bothered with the first episode of The Flash is it wasn't for the fact that it's in Arrow's universe. You might be right about the over-saturation of the market as it seems that every new "hit" show is based on a comic or graphic novel.. It's understandable since there's a plethora of source material but for some reason we end up with The Flash and Daredevil while I'm still sitting here waiting to see Gambit in a show.

The good part about Daredevil and the others coming to Netflix is they can get grittier and have more room to go where these other shows can't if they want.

Looks like they wanna go extra comicy with The Flash thou, still not 100% sold on it just yet myself

Nah Arrow is still better because of the grittiness and less comicy feel .. Flash is the opposite it's going the more comicy route, Don't get me wrong Flash is a fun show thus far but I vote Arrow as the better of these two shows myself
