Thoughts On Euthanasia

This is me trying to bring life back to the general chat section again, Don you've already got me down for a Christmas card. But if you like this thread, I've decided that I'd like a present as well. It'd be pretty rad if you could get me a signed autograph or album from Justin Timberlake.

I'm sure most of you know what euthanasia is, if you don't. It's pretty much assisting death to someone who's terminally ill or someone who's in extreme and incurable pain, another name for it is assisted suicide.

Euthanasia can be considered good in the sense that it relieves pain and suffering, but it's at the cost of someone's life. It's been debated for years whether it's right or wrong, and whether it should be legalised or not. At the end of the day as the assister, it's still "killing" someone or helping them to die. It's illegal in many countries, whereas in certain countries it's legal and they have specific hospitals for this.

It's been argued that someone who decides to commit assisted suicide should have the right to decide when to end their life and that it's their own choice, however it's manslaughter and illegal to deliberately kill someone whether the person has consented to their death or not.

I don't know what I'd do if I was asked to commit euthanasia by a close friend or even a family member, I'd want to relieve them of their pain and suffering but I wouldn't want to help kill them to do it. What are your general thoughts and opinions on the topic?

I'd say Euthanasia is only needed when someone will not recover. The thought of it is sickening, but the option to be taken off of life support should be up to the patient. If the patient can't speak for themselves then leave them be.

Not killing someone when they're in unimaginable pain is of the most stupid and heartless thing one as a human being can do. You have the chance to relieve one person from their suffering, because their whole life consists out of suffering in this certain situation. Not relieving them from their pain, when you have the chance to do so, would be like purposely torturing them, which is way worse than killing them.

I honestly have nothing against the idea, if I had a sick loved one and they were suffering to the point where they wanted to be put down quickly, I would fully understand. No one should have to go through a slow and painful death from illness and if they choose to end it quickly then I see it completely necessary.

Good album by Megadeth from 1994, actually the first Megadeth album I bought. Has some really good songs on there, and some fab demos.

Oh you're not on about the album, well in that sense it's only really viable when someone will never recover. As said previously, that's really the only viable time. If the person is in a coma or cannot talk then, I think it should be down to the family. Since some people can die in comas, like for example people who were trampled on from Hillsborough in 1989 they died while in a coma in hospital.

So i'm really on the fence with the subject.
