WWE '12: We Take A First Look At Create an Arena

Yesterday seen the announcement of a mode that WWE fans have been requesting for years, Create an Arena. Unfortunately for fans watching online and wanting to know more on this feature, the announcement was simply that, an announcement.

Now, we can shed some new light on this feature and let you know exactly how it'll work, what you can design and what’s available.

Stepping into the new mode it is setup like the Create an Entrance mode in that you can switch between different sections using the controller’s bumper buttons to navigate to each of the available options.

So what's available to design?

Starting at ringside almost everything you see is customisable including:

The Ring:

Ring Posts, Ring Apron, Ring Mat & Turnbuckle Pads

The options available for the above allow you to select the main background colour and then apply WWE logos, Flags, Misc. logos or even Custom logo (Paint tool) allowing you to come up with your own unique designs or even recreate another companies ring (ROH, Impact Wrestling, etc.).

The available logo designs also include the likes of WCW and old WrestleMania logos to recreate past arenas like last years WCW Nitro DLC Arena.

Layers are also available to allow you to create more complex designs, however there is no mention of how many layers are available.

Ring Ropes

The ring ropes are pretty straight forward and allow you to customise each rope in the colour you desire or simply set all ropes to one single colour.

Ringside:

Arena Floor, Barricades, Barricade Logos, Announce Tables

The arena floor option allows you to change the black padded floors along with the barricades themselves so you can go back to an 80's style WWE arena with the blue flooring and metal guardrails. You can even replace the WWEHD logo that you see on the barricades at ringside to display other logos or your own custom designs.

The Announce Tables are also available to change, allowing you to set the colour and add your own designs.

The Arena:

Electronic Billboard, Matchup Nameplate & Arena Screenshot

The Electronic Billboard that runs around the arena above the crowd is customisable with 13 preset animations which include WWE, RAW, Smackdown, NXT, Superstars, Hall of Fame & WWE Legends animations amongst others.

The Matchup Nameplate option allows you to select one of seven preset animations that display when Superstars enter the arena.

Finally, you'll also get the option to select a screenshot of your arena that will be used on the arena select screen with 12 set camera angles to take a screenshot from.

What about the stage?

All that was shown of the stage was the generic stage that you see on WWE TV shows, there was no mention of whether this can be changed or not, however I’d expect you'll at least be able to change the likes of the banner video that plays above the stage similar to how you can set a video to play on the arena billboard.

Once more information comes available regarding the staging area we'll post it.

I think this confirms it, I'll be getting WWE 12 this year, hopefully these can be used in Universe so we can create our own brand.

These look good, but i still think Create an Arena will be a sleeper (my opinion).

I think it's a nice addition, sure it's not gonna make the game play better, but it'll be good for fans of TNA, WCW and even WWF to recreate those arenas. I'm wondering if it's possible to use them in created storylines so people can use them for creating past events.

I would assume so seeing as all the other create options can be used in the story creator. Seeing as the paint tool is an option it would seem easy enough to create the TNA arena and pretty much any other arena aside from the actual stage.

if they include all the old WM logos etc and the CAS mode is good enough, i'd say this will appeal to those wanting old skool wrestlers and legends etc. much more.
