I got an email earlier about the #1 entry on IGN's top 100 gaming moments in history which named the following as number 1...

As far as I go, I'd name this as my first choice too, with the FFVII ending a close second.

What would you name as your top gaming moment?

Seriously, FF7 is the most over-rated pile of shit ever. FF8 dominated it. I preferred the scene in The Darkness where Tommy's girlfriend gets killed. Much better.

Top moment, I'm not sure. A good one is talking to that hologram reaper in ME1. Fighting Liquid on top of Metal Gear Rex. I'll add to this.

All Ghillied Up in COD4.
The Reveal in Bioshock.

Look at the list, no.2 is definitely no. 1 in my book. Psycho Mantis was fascinating.

I never even finished FF8, I was so into 7 that I struggled trying to get into it and ended up loosing interest in the story half way through.

That's just being brainwashed, FF7 is a good game, but it pales in comparison to FF8 in nearly every way, it's totally just fanboyism :p!

No FF8 is not better than FF7. Nowhere near. The only thing 8 had on 7 at the time was graphics, yet now ironically 7's graphics have aged far better and 8 looks like total arse. Just thinking about the stupid Garden plot, the Guardian Forces and the stupid memory subplot regarding them that is brought up and quickly dropped, and the crap magic system is making me angry. Oh and the fucking shitty Ultimacia plot...and walking through those fucking mines. Which reminds me of the Laguna plot...stupid. No fanboyism here, I've played them all, some are better than others. 8 is not better than 7.

Great gaming moments (without having read the IGN article):
Super Metroid ending (getting the super laser and the mad dash out).
A tie between the first zombie appearance in Resident Evil and the dogs jumping through the window.
The plot twist in Oddworld Stranger's Wrath.
Perfecting drifting in Ridge Racer.
Becoming Super Sonic in Sonic 2 and then realising maybe it wasn't such a great idea when you fall off the screen
After hours of flicking switches and reading notes and books, finally making some progress in Myst.

I'm locking in making some progress in Myst as the best videogame moment ever. Anyone that has played it without a walkthrough at their side (like I did at school in 1995), knows the relief felt when finally some shit started happening, then you would get on a roll....then you'd hit another roadblock. A lot of hate is thrown Myst's way these days, I think by people that didn't play it in the mid 90's without a walkthrough. Oh and most of the ports being awful didn't help, I remember the Playstation port...so slow....
