Keeping Up With the Release Schedule...Barely

Uncharted 3 - Making Big Progress
Skyrim - 11/11/11
Saints Row The Third - 15/11/11
Assassin's Creed Revelations - 15/11/11
Zelda Skyward Sword - 20/11/11
If you have any interest in multiplayer shooters like Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3, then you're completely fucked. Thankfully I don't. The schedule will go out the window when Skyrim is released, there's no way I can finish it before Saints Row and Assassin' Creed is released. And then there's no way I can finish those three before Zelda. Four games on the go at once, that will probably last me to Christmas I reckon. That and I still have a Rage game that I hit every now and then, and I restarted my Fallout New Vegas game to finally finish that.
Post with comments about how much overtime you have to do to afford all these games, or how you're begging your parents for $500 worth of videogames for Christmas.
I hope the guards don't yell "Assassino!" every two minutes like in Brotherhood and AC2.
EDIT - Oh and you dorks probably have WWE 12 on that list, I'm looking forward to "It's exactly like the old games, THQ lied to us" topics. If it's actually good, I may buy it. Especially if they've sorted out their net code like they claim.

Modern Warfare 3
Assassin's Creed Revelations
WWE 12
Halo Anniversary
I'm more than half way through Uncharted 3 so I'm going to finish that up before Tuesday, I've got Sonic Generations which is just something on the side that I can jump into from time to time. It's actually the first Sonic game I've bought in years and I'm enjoying it the modern sonic stages are awesome, well most of them are. It's worth checking out for something a bit different.
As for Skyrim I won't be picking that up for awhile I'm waiting to see how it turns out, I was never a big fan of oblivion the only way I could enjoy that game was by installing a bunch of mods and even then I couldn't get into it.

I was looking to pick up Goldeneye this week but i'm gonna leave it for now while I play through BF3. So my list is ...
Goldeneye
Modern Warefare 3
WWE '12
I'm tempted to go for Sonic Generations after my mate recomended it but I think I remember trying the demo and not being too keen on it so i'll give the demo another go.
As for Uncharted, I havent played the earlier games so i'll probably pick those up on the cheap and play through those first. Same kinda thing with Zelda, I bought the last Zelda game with my Wii when it came out but never played it, so i'll probably play that and see if I can bare the Wii long enough to go for Skyword Sword.

I'm picking up Generations on the cheap when it plummets in price in a couple of months because everyone is burnt by Sonic games that they won't buy it.

The problem stems from the level design and controls, they open up the game but it just doesn't work with the way sonic controls, at times it feels like controlling a car on ice with barely any steering. I do wonder if they have ever played a Mario game to see what crisp controls are like, Sonic Team just seem to be in a bubble while everything else moves on.
The first two acts are good, the boss battles are ok, the classic stages are for the most part great and the modern stages are great as well but only on the first two acts which is 6 levels. The last 3 you will want to finish and never touch again.
Oh and Sonic is a douchebag in this game and so are his friends and I mean the modern version, classic Sonic is cool and so is Robotnic yeah Robotnic makes an appearence I still have no idea why they changed the name. So at the end of the game modern Sonic is like 'yo your future is going to be awesome' to classic Sonic, yeah modern sonic is totally a liar, and as for his friends they turn up of the the last boss to cheer him on, all the while Sonic is getting his ass kicked and no one thinks of helping.
Even though there are aspects of the game that are shit it's still pretty good, worth picking up on the sales as it is the best Sonic game in years. There are rumours this will b the last of the current Sonic and they will be moving on to something totally new with Sonic I just hope they ditch most of his friends, to me the only ones worth keeping are Tails and Knuckles.

I think the gameplay needs more development now, something perhaps a bit more rhythmic than nastily designed staccato levels. I don't think 3D works well for sonic in any capacity - with all the detail and even just high levels of depth in the new "2D" levels it becomes harder and harder to concentrate on an ever-shrinking character that's capable of dying in 2 hits at extreme speeds. I always felt sonic is more naturally suited to fully 2-D, nicely produced art, maybe even something more akin to rayman origins.
but what do I know! I just feel strongly because I loved these games as a kid, but theyre just so piss poor nowadays and a reluctance to admit it.
As for the release schedule, it gets on my tits a bit that people think it's a great idea to release major games all in one release window. I'm sure there's a marketing reason for it - some bullshit i dont understand - but it seems a little blinkered to release a game around the same time as other massive games, some of very similar genres, and call it healthy.
I'm trying to not keep on top of it so much this time around... I'd love to get them all as they come out but I justt find i don't have anywhere near as much time to get through them all so I've learnt to sit back on some games and just work through them as I can.
I will say that of all of the big releases this year I'm most looking forward to zelda, I'd really love it to reproduce that feeling ocarina and wind waker had all those years ago.

I don't understand why Sega hasn't released a full side scrolling Sonic game but gone all out with it. Why keep fucking around with the third person view if it simply doesn't work for the character? Whatever happened to Sonic 4 Episode 2? Why did they make that episodic when it's the Sonic game people want to play? Sega are fucking retarded.
Going back to Skyrim for a second, my interest in the game is not from past Elder Scrolls games. A friend lent me Morrowind when it was brand new and I had never heard of it. I wondered why every NPC said the same thing over and over again to me and never played it again. I played Oblivion years after it's release because I was poor and my PC was shit. I pirated that shit on PC when I bought a new one, and never ended up playing it. I bought the GOTY edition for PS3 kidding myself that if I could play it laying down I would play it more. I didn't. Fallout 3 was fucking awesome. I have a shitload of issues with the game (which can be found HERE), if Bethesda didn't ruin their own game it could actually be remembered as awesome and not that new Fallout game that isn't as good as New Vegas. It sounds like their questing, level progression and perk sytem is tighter. I hope.

The 3D version I thought was just as bad as every other 3D Sonic game. The side scrolling version played better but with the 3D backgrounds it's too much of a headache to look at when your running through the level. Then there's the fact that it says it's the old Green Hills Zone now in 3D, so it's not even original, it's just yet another remake.
Sonic 4 Episode 1 was alot better than this for me, they should have just released Episode 2 and stuck to what they know best.
If it's true that they are going to try something different with Sonic I'd prefer to see them give Sonic a back seat and make a game focused on Tails or Knuckles. That way they wont feel the need to put so much focus on speed and can try something completley different like Nintendo did with Luigi's Mansion.

I just ordered Skyrim from Shopto paid for the order at 15.03 and it was dispatched at 15.05, they send an image of the parcel which is neat, I've used them a few times now and I really can't fault them.

Zelda Skyward Sword leaked a few hours ago. Assassin's Creed out on Tuesday. I did manage to finish Uncharted 3 though, my thoughts on that experience are mixed. On one hand I love Uncharted, on the other I would have liked a different plot than "find the mysterious city, oh wait maybe we should have never come to this city" plot, because that was the plot of the first two. The series needs a drastic change of pace and scenery, maybe even a rest while ND brings back Jak and Daxter, they do have a collection on the way...

I think my main complaint is levelled at the Wii remote itself, it's a terribly designed peripheral. It was when it first came out, and it's just archaic now. The button layout is fucked, making playing a game difficult. The controller isn't ergonomic in the slightest making it uncomfortable to hold. The motion plus add on has a silicon sleeve, and obviously the idiots at Nintendo weren't aware holding silicon makes your hands sweat, making it even more uncomfortable.

When it comes to reviews from IGN I don't particularly trust them because more often than not they over rate games then a week later they have there second thoughts artcile where everyone is like yeah it wasn't really a 10 was it. Plus the fact that IGN will give out a nine or higher all too often.
Skyrim and Assassin's Creed have both arrived this morning 3 days before release date which is awesome but now I'm torn about which one to play. I want to jump into Skyrim though Assassin's Creed is oh so tempting. This AC should be interesting though, as up to this point I have only watched one CGI trailer and that's it so I don't know what to expect from the story/ setting etc, for games I'm really interested in I'm tending to avoid trailers, I like going into games totally fresh so even early game stuff will be suprising.
Just opened Skyrim and the map stinks it's made out of the same material as wallpaper.

EDIT - I preordered the big box version of AC Revelations, the one that comes with the encyclopedia. I figured I need it to make sense of the wish washy history riddled plot. I've played every game in the series bar the portable outings because they're shit, and I have no idea what the plot is. I've read news stories about a new Assassin's Creed game for 2012 because in the game that is when something happens. That was news to me.
