Did we do a New Year's Resolution topic last year? I had a look for one but couldnt find it.

2010 seen me complete last years main resolution of quitting work in July and making a living out of gambling for 6 months.

I had planned on looking for a new job in January if the gambling didnt go too well but im now in a position where i've made enough to easily cover me for the next 6 months. So my resolution for 2011 is to put the money that i've made to good use and buy a flat/house with the aim of either moving in or renting it out so that i've also got a garunteed income.

Seems you done quite alright with the betting then. I wouldn't mind giving it a go, for some cash on the side. Have you got a system you work by or what?

Yeah, i've been using the same system for the past 2 years so i'm now at a point where I know when the best time is to use it, etc. Have a look on Youtube for an example of how to back and lay bets on Betfair, then just use that method on the under/over goals or match odds markets.

Australian laws forbid in-play betting, so yeah even when I see awesome odds going on betfair that I know will pay off, I can't capitalise on it because their fucking system reminds me of the fucking backwards country I live in.

I just Googled it and the site I read said it is legal but talked about a whole load of reasons why the government are trying to ban it due to match fixing, etc.

I can understand why they would ban it from that point of view but its daft to try and ban it for everyone when you could just work with the companies to look for trends of groups of people putting huge amounts on events and always winning. I read something on betfair about them passing on any such info to the european sports councils, etc. that seems like the way they should look to handle it.

Yeah I looked into it a little more afterwards aswell, I just remembered about 3 months ago just wanting to put a standard punt on game of something that was in play and it wouldn't let me stating Australia federal law. Apparently you can, but it has to be an over-the-phone bet, you can't place the bet online.

Still defeats the purpose of trading, where you need to be able to back and lay bets rather quickly, instead of waiting for a phone operator.

A few reasons.

1. I've always liked Norway.

2. It's a very interesting language, plus learning it makes learning the other Scandinavian languages much easier.

3. I plan on going to Norway in the future, so might as well learn the language of the land while I've still got enough free time.

Nice.

I started doing Dutch last year using a downloaded version of Rosetta Stone, it makes it pretty simple to pickup but I havent had the chance to reinstall it since I reinstalled Windows 7.

I decided to go with the boring resolutions of exercising every other day, eating more fruit and drinking more water. It seems to be going well so far but I dunno how long i'll keep up the exercise.

How well did you get on with your 2009 New Years Resolutions?

I failed in the drink more water, eat more fruit resolution...

The exercise one i'll say I passed, as I kinda did workout in patches and I started playing football more this year. The cool thing about that was I stopped as 2 of my mates fell out over a girl the previous year and that caused the group I played with to take sides and stop hanging out, so I just messaged them out of the blue and asked if they fancied a game. Since then we've been playing each week and even started playing in a 6-a-side league.

As for work/gambling I managed to make a lot at the start of the year untill the end of the season but this season hasnt been too great, still seems to be going well tho overall.
