Following an admin meeting last week, the decision was made to Remove / Merge the following forums.

  • Game Central
  • Bargain Basement

The decision to remove game Central was based on the lack of activity between the forum and the Gaming Discussion forum, therefore it was decided that merging both forums together would create a more active gaming section.

Similar to the decision to remove Game Central due to a lack of activity, the same decision was made for the Bargain Basement forum. This forum seen a decent amount of activity last year in the run up to Christmas as more and more offers became available, however since the turn of the year it has been barely used. In removing this forum and merging the posts into the Gaming and General Chat forums it is hoped that the Christmas offers that will soon be appearing will help to bring more actvity to the other forums.

Following on from the action taken on these forums, other forums were also discussed, including the Art & Design forum. From the discussions that took place we've decided not to remove any further forums for the time being and instead look to try and invigerate these forums with new features to see how they go.

If you have any ideas on ways to boost a certain forum, please post your ideas in reply.

Regards,

Paul.

Idea #1 - Force TV's Joe whatever his name is to change his username. I don't like it, never have. There, finally, everyone has been staring at this elephant in the room for a long time now, it took someone like me to bite the bullet and bring this matter forward. Honestly, it ranks up their with owrst usernames of all time. I think I've seen a few usernames that feature numbers, because the name they wanted was taken, that are better than his. If I went and put an "As Seen On TV" after my name, everyone would throw their arms up in disgust at what I've done to my username, taking the proverbial dump on it. I believe him changing his name will greatly increase traffic and board usage.

Idea #2 - Swearing Sundays. Every post made on a Sunday must include a swear word. Now I understand most people already do this, the battle for sobriety raging on inside your head forces the word's of the devil out as part of the healng process. I'm just saying there's some members who are...for lack of better words, complete and utter poofters, not only do they need to bring the curse to Sunday, they also need to put the orange juice down, put some vodka in it, hand it to the missus, and get yourself a real fucking drink. Swearing Sundays won't do much for traffic or board usage, but it will make us who live and die by the foul mouth of satan feel a lot better about it.

Idea #3 - You've over-estimated the average wrestling fan, they look at the board and go "what's a media?". Stop being pretentious wankers and change the name to Wrestling Videos. It's not like you have anything else in there anyway. Looking past that aswell, 95% of your links are dead within 24 hours making your forum for it 100% useless.

Idea #4 - Nah seriously do it, kill that lame art thing, it's like the retarded ranga sister of the man without a face. Stop giving people the false impression that they may actually have some skills by giving them a platform to post their shitty creations so far too nice for their own good people can say what a wonderful job they've done. They shouldn't, and they haven't. I could run a photo of my dick through five Photoshop filters and could get an A+ from you guys.

Idea #5 - Less football (soccer) talk in the sports forum. Yes it's the most popular game in the world, but it's also more boring to talk about than baseball is to watch. It being a sport played worldwide goes against it, you don't follow the same teams, you're not even in the same competitions, and the team that wears red always wins anyway. Except for Adelaide United. Go take a look a the forum, the only topics that have over 10 replies are either not about football, or are more general information football topics, not even related to an actual game. Personally I'd promote the posting of things like Top 5 lists, highlight clips, blogs on your team of choice. Ways to promote people to watch different sport to what they're accustomed to.

Done.

#1. Not my call.
#2. Fuck.
#3. Fair point. It used to have themes, etc. but now it's only really used for embedding Youtube videos.
#4. It's got a month to see if it stays the same.
#5. Ok, less "Soccer" talk in the Sports Forum and maybe less General Chat in the General Chat forum? Or maybe less Wrestling News in the Wrestling News forum? What'd you reckon?

*"it's up to the lack of users of the forum!"

Oh oh, see what I did there!? Also, I wasn't blaiming Paul for anything, he asked for suggestions, and I always give suggestions. I'm like the only one to ever give suggestions. You can criticise my suggestions, but I'm yet to see any from you. Maybe you should listen to a few instead of dismissing them, after all...

We know this. Football should always be the most talked about in Sports Discussion.

ok, 2 things, firstly, me, paul and hb had a fairly lengthy meeting on msn, because my suggestions are not on this forum directly does not mean i havnt made any, and second... saying football shouldnt be the most talked about isnt a suggestion, infact, going by your normally intelligent posts and watertight arguements, that "suggestion" seems like you didnt even make it, its of subrick quality

I haven't heard your suggestions, fire away. What were they? They might have been really good. Just because they took place in an MSN discussion doesn't mean you can't let loose some of your suggestions that maybe didnt quite get the reaction you expected. Give us some insight into the mind of Aero.

As for the second point, well, here's a link to the forum.

http://smacktalks.or...hp?showforum=94
You need it seems as you haven't been there for a month. Sometimes topics are a little too close to our hearts to see the truth, but for this one guys, the proof is in the pudding.

Subrick isn't ballsy enough to tell you guys how it is. So I'm doing it, your football talk sucks. IOnfact it's just MMA in there now, You guys have given up on tqalking football aswell.

By the way what was with this?

I called it football in my post, I went back and counted, three times. I called it soccer once in brackets for the international audience. My dad is from English, I grew up with it. You're like Mick foley going for a cheap pop with the whole "soccer" thing.

EDIT! - If only Sports Discussion was as water tight as my arguements, it wouldn't be sinking so badly...

There's an international break at the mo and England's already qualified. So there sin't really much to talk about at the mo.

You're trying to make it sound like it was a hive of activity right up till the break, well I looked into this "international break". The premier league stopped a week ago. That does not explain the one month inactivity. Try again.

i quoted "soccer" after paul did you tool and went back to saying football after. the point still stands that football is generally all people want to talk about...sparingly at that it seems, as such ur comment wasnt overly productive. if you dont want to talk about football, start a topic about something sports related YOU want to talk about... its a forum.

as for my suggestions, and hb's they currently reflect that of what paul is in the process of doing, and, theres a few more things to come, one which i'm doing myself (altho it is effectively a more general version of something paul done for a while and which should be making a return). i'm just preparing it so that it wont be a 1 month thing then vanish... eh paul? :p

Nah I go to a sports board to talk to other people about sport. Why the fuck would I want to opinion of two other people? Hell, I doubt it would even get two replies.

Football isn't something to be talked about week in week out, it's more of talking about a big game, something great happening in a match, etc.

Well it's been almost a month. I haven't seen any improvements besides Paul updating the board (good job Paul). The sports forum has seen two new topics. Hive of activity. The art forum hasn't even had a post, kill it and put it out of it's misery already. Plus TV's Joe whatshisname is still the same and dragging the board's popularity down.

yeh cause i totally post everywhere and not just in the game forum where you totally HAVE to post. It was a joke you had no part in. get over yourself. Oh and people who come here totally determine their feelings of the board by the members names and not the content, right?

You're right, your name is a joke. Please change it.

I do have to post in the gaming forum, it was going to way of the art and sports forum. Don't worry, I'm not taking credit for saving it or anything, no it's very much still on life support.

And no people don't determine their feelings of the board by a user's name. Yours just puts everyone in a bad mood bringing down the enjoyment of the board for everybody who sees it. If you changed you name, I feel people would have a happier outlook on life and would enjoy the board more.

EDIT - Why should I get over myself? I would like a list of reasons and then I might think about it.

How? Joe Lauzon is a mediocre UFC fighter that no one cares for, how does it put anyone in a bad mood. Give me one good solid HONEST example of someone becoming "depressed" by the name Joe Lauzon on this board, besides you. The last time there was really enjoyment on this board was when everyone got into stupid arguments that made for great laughter, and how long ago was that?
