E3 Press Confrences

4/10 goes to Microsoft.
I woke up early to catch the Nintendo press conference and all I can say is FUCKING WOW! My face has been pwnd off. Dates for Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. and Mario Galaxy. They also announced Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit. My fat layzie ass is excited for a FITNESS GAME! After damn near a year I am excited to own my Wii. Nintendo did an amazing job and my hat is off to them.
9.5/10 goes to Nintendo.
The Sony press conference is either tonight or tomorrow and I'm really hoping Sony comes out strong. I want to see more of Home and I hope to be sold on LittleBigPlanet as well. Sony needs to tell people why they need GTA IV on the PS3, and tout that MGS4 is still an exclusive, as far as we know that is. Apparently there will be more on Killzone 2 and they better impress after the CG fiasco 2 years ago. No Heavy Rain info will be a HUGE disappointment for me. Nintendo has proven to me I didn't waste money on a Wii, Sony needs to show me I havent wasted money on a P$3.
So far my biggest disappointments have been the Microsoft press conference in general, No news on Shenmue 3 (fingers crossed even tho it'll never happen) and thus far no mention on Heavy Rain, but I'm PRAYING Sony will say something about it.
G4 will be consuming my week with their coverage of E3. Press conferences live with few interruptions is amazing and I want to give the people at G4 a big hug for not forcing me to sit at my computer watching a rather shit resolution broadcast from Gamespot.

Sony's press conference ended and I must say that it was (for me atleast) one big, Meh. Killzone looks great, maybe borrowing from FEAR a little bit but it still looks amazing. From what I saw of LittleBigPlanet (I was in the shitter for most of it) looks pretty damn cool. HOME however has peaked my interest and I'm curious to see what Sony plans on doing with it. I'd also be ashamed of myself if I didn't say that Gran Turismo Prologue. Gran Turismo HD is fun but it's only 1 track, master it once and then it's a cake walk, but then again it's just a demo so I'll let it slide. I'm praying they finally include damage.
Other than that, their press conference bored me. Not enough "Look at me, I have a controller in my hands, on stage and I'm playing the game live for you all to enjoy." No mention of why GTA IV will be superior on the PS3, MGS4 dosen't do much for me so I'm assuming Iain will be ranting about it for months. Also NO (zip, zero, nadda) mention of Heavy Rain, Omirkon 2 or the untitled Quantic Dream exclusive. Not cool Sony, no not cool.
Their press conference came off hokier than Microsoft's. Peter Moore playing Rock Band > them jumping between HOME and the stage. You could tell it was far too scripted and personally I don't like any of the Sony douche bags, Kaz is fine by me however.
All in all I give Sony a 4.5/10. They did stress that they are making strides to ear the consumers.
Oh did I miss Lair while I was in the shitter or did they not show it?

The fitness game looks great though, its a great idea if nothing else (i wont be getting it as i need to put on weight not loose it.)
Thank fuck for Gears on PC. I dont really need to buy a 360 anymore as I was updating my PC soon anyway! AWESOME.
tbh Killzone2 looks a bit shit and dated. I liked the first one but I already saw some nasty textures in the new one...

another? wtf? UC has been announced for months. It uses the zapper, thats been said. Itll work well for that, granted, but I just think the zapper LOOKS cheap. Would be best to custom make a shotgun case for that fucker though. And might I add, UC is looking fine, for a Wii game. Really good. I thought the RE: 2 parts looked a bit dodgy to start with but now, ingame, they look great. Same with Metroid 3- those games always looked amazing anyway (Metroid1+2 still look ace) but 3 just looks like it has alot more polish.
This wave of wii games at least, seems to be graphically onpar with what the console should be able to offer. Fuck this sub-gamecube quality crap.
Mario Kart hasnt been announced officially until E3, and looks great from what Ive seen (a little low poly though)
Apparently SSBB and Mario Kart have different releases for areas. US gets SSBB late this year and we get Mario Kart at that time, and then they get mario kart in 2008 when we get SSBB. Sucks though, id rather SSBB.
Im still well happy with that gears announcement though. Seriously, I was considering a 360 but now I wont. Isnt Lost Planet on PC too?

Yeah, but they need axclusives. All Sony has left is MGS4, Rachet and Clank, and God of War. My biggest fear is that the inevitable God of War 3 will be on the 360. That's what I'm scared of.

MGS4 is more likely.

I've told you before, it's 'piqued'. Home has piqued your interest.
EDIT - On a more related note, PS3 has some absolutely gorgeous games on the near horizon for it. Nice to see my whizz bang Cell processor will be being put under a little bit of stress for a change.

God of War is a Sony first party title, developed by Sony itself, so it's impossible to go to XBox 360. Beyond you names, Uncharted Drake's Fortune is exclusive to PS3, developed by Naughty Dog the team behind the first 3 Crash Bandicoot games and the shitty kart game, and Jak and Daxter 1, 2, 3 and the forgettable kart game X. It looks awesome, check out the trailers which include gameplay shots, amazing stuff. Also exclusive is the recently announced Folklore, another first part title, the teaser looks very pretty. Gran Turismo 5 is exclusive. Plus there's stacks of stuff that hasn't been anounced. Like what the team behind ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are doing with the PS3; that will be exclusive too.

I meant exclusive franchises that have been around for a little bit. Since you have enlightned me, my new biggest fear is MGS4 will be on the 360. It's very likely, and just because E3 is almost over and the press confrences have happened doesn't mean that Microsoft will announce something like that at the Tokyo Game Show or E for All in October.

Indigo Prophecy is mentioned in the same breath as Final Fantasy VIII when I am talking about games, there not much of a high compliment I can give a game. Also Omikron for the Dreamcast was sweet, just too bad about the shotty controls and camera. I'm waiting for Omikron 2 just to see how it'll look and play on the P$3.
I really think with two or three more games under their belt Quantic Dream could be to action/adventrue fans what Square-Enix is to RPG gamers. They have great stories in their games and they spend a lot of time on the games. I might be a little bit of a QD fanboy bu, eh.
