Last week I got Resident Evil 4 for the Wii and wasn't able to play it for a few days because I forgot that my sister-in-law was still borrowing it. Nonetheless I was able to play it over the weekend at my buddy's house that this will be the game to make me stop doubting the Wii for a little bit. The controls are about as good as you can hope for even if they take a bit to get used to. Your retical is always on the screen and to shoot you hold down the Z(?) button and then hit A to shoot, hold down C and then press A to swipe with your knife. The nunchaku moves Leon and what I was hippest about is that the analoge stick moves the camera as well, in CoD the Wiimote moves the camera so if you'd move it too much during a fire fight you were screwed.
Dispite my poorly written review, this is hands down the best game for the Wii and even if you've played RE4 already, you need to play it on the Wii. Now I have to go get my Wii back from my sister-in-law...

what buttons do they use for dodging (boulder run, krauser, verdugo, etc)?
its not like i can resist getting another copy (my 3rd) of a game i beat 100s of times, but if it isnt the hands down best game for the wii, you'll get...well...nothing. but i am definitely going to make a thread about it.

I didn't get that far, only played for about an hour. However to get a villger off me I had to shake the wiimote last and right and I've seen videos of you shaking it left and right to outrun the bolder so there ya go...

I've rented it and I like it better than the Gamecube and PS2 versions combined.

got it the day it came out over here as a gift, never played RE4 before on any console, beat it twice now, fucking excellent game, controls rock (you hold Z to run, hold B and press A to shoot and you reload by holding B and pointing away from screen, or holding B and pressing down on d-pad)
to avoid things etc you either have to press a, b, a+b or shake the wiimote.
best game on wii i've played i think, been a while since i played zelda tho, but this may be better than it.

I bought it the other day using a gift voucher, so I got it for the hilarious price of $34 bucks (it was released at full price here rather than a budget price, probably due to the lack of any good games for the console for 5 months).
This is the best Wii game yet, and it is the best version of the best Resident Evil yet. I've played the GameCube version to death. I never bought the PS2 version due to there not being enough to sway my wallet. Put the true widescreen, Ada missions along with excellent Wii controls for $34 and I'll bite. It just seems like the game was made for the Wii remote. No longer pulling the laser sight over enemies, you simply point and shoot, and the aiming is spot on giving you enough room for error to be enjoyable but still rewarding the prefects shots.
The first thing I noticed was there were a lot more exploding heads this time around, then after a bit of thought I realised it was because it was finding it so easy to quickly aim for the head with the Wii remote, rather than using an analog stick. It does lessen the difficulty, having this much control and being able to move your gun so fast does take away from the rushed experience you used to get from the game. That is a negative point for it, yes it's not all green pastures. To offset this, the bad guys seem to absorb more ammo, but the game seems to have ramped up the amount it gives you to compensate that. At the end of the day however, only when set on by five guys at once will you find yourself darting across the screen trying to hold them all back, but you'll still come out of it with more than enough ammo to last half of the adventure all over again from the start.
Nothing beats the experience though, it is the best introduction to the Resident Evil series, so those yet to get a taste need to drop the cash now. It's the best game out on Wii, which also is a sign of the quality of the titles on Wii when a 2 year old GameCube port is the best available. Those that found Zelda easy, will find this easy too, there's yet to be a game to offer a serious challenge to gamers on the console, and seems Nintendo doesn't want to change that by what they say. Ofcourse die hard Zelda fans will still claim that Zelda holds the top spot on Wii; they're wrong.

great review, tho can i suggest you play on the hardest difficulty, you should have unlocked it after playing through for the 1st time.

Which is all well and good, but my pile of games to get through is huge. I don't understand unlockable difficulty levels. So while I wouldn't mind playing through again, I just have a huge pile of stuff that I haven't played through once, let alone for the tenth time.

fair point, but when you go back to it (which, by the sounds of things you will) give it a shot on professional mode.
