Manhunt 2 Banned In UK

The first Manhunt was released in Australia, but later banned in an appeal from complaints from...who knows who, obviously people with nothing better to do. It was due to Australia not have an R rating (18+) for videogames, although it is constantly talked about in parliament with a lot of people behind the movement. So Manhunt 2 is also a given to be banned here
As gaming consoles become capable of delivering increasingly realistic concepts and graphics, and Rockstar continues to loose all creativity, the banned list will undoubtedly grow.
So basically it poses the question: When does a game take it too far? Limits are put on the movie industry, although it seems to a lesser extent (the recent Hostels movie are an example). Obviously people choose what to play at the end of the day and it's entirely possible to play video games your entire life without playing one with a drop of blood in it, but it's the real world and that means jack shit.
Discuss your views on censorship, and violence in videogames. There has to be a line drawn somewhere, where should the line be?

people need to educate their kids. if kids can grow up knowing that (most) tv violence doesnt fly in the real world and there are real consequences like life in prison or even death - kids will think twice about going on a murder rampage. also, we have to consider the fact that some people are just violent by nature. its not like there werent murderers before movies and video games came out.
so yeah, banning video games is bullshit.

It's been announced though that it's received an AO rating in America, essentially banning it from a lot of major retailers. Rockstar are upset, saying it's inline with an M rating. Rockstar is currently considering their options on either appealing the ratings decisions, or altering the game content.
Clearly the game crosses some lines, more than Manhunt 1. It'll be interesting to see what the ratings boards are picking out as unacceptable for an M rating.

But really, im annoyed its banned here, but part of me thinks thats justified. It looks like being one of the nastiest games ever; the fact that on the wii, you actually carry out these murders yourself, makes it a murder sim really and well, as fun as it might be, its not to be glorified.
Im annoyed but also slightly thankful.

Aero, there isn't a Freeloader for Wii yet. Don't confuse the GameCube Freeloader that has the "Works with Wii" sticker on the front.

Plot thickens more so with Nintendo coming out and saying that it clearly states on Nintendo.com that Nintendo doesn't allow AO rated content on any of it's systems.
So the Wii version of Manhunt 2 in it's current state cannot be released in America. So Nintendo of America bans it, so much for America not banning anything.
Look for Rockstar to change the game.

i know its not out, yet, but its on its way, looks more likely tho that they will just have to edit the game to pass censorship so it will most likely end up comming out in the uk anyways

Im feeling a little more optimistic about it, after I read the AO version thing.
I just cannot see the logic in them just releasing an USA PS2 version, missing out on UK Wii/PS2 AND American Wii.
